The Drackyma is a monster in the series.

Characteristics[edit | edit source]

Drackymas are cartoonish-looking yellow bats that, naturally, look just like their original black variants. They have large wings that they constantly flap in order to stay airborne, a pair of round feet, a long and thin tail, round eyes, and a pair of large fangs in their smiling mouths. The origins of drackymas have changed in different games. In Dragon Quest VIII, they are the mothers of drackies. Their description in Monster Parade states that once a dracky that has lived for 1,000 years, it goes into a cocoon and is then reborn as a drackyma. According to rumours in The Dark Prince, their yellow colouration is caused by drackies overindulging in eating curry. The drackyma is set apart by its enhanced spellcasting abilities, with a particular focus on casting Snooze, which are lullabies used for putting children to sleep. In some games, they also specialise in casting explosive spells.
