The Saint's Equipment is a fan term referring to the set of legendary equipment found in Dragon Quest VII. Named after the demi-gods that feature prominently in the lore of the game, each item corresponds to one of the demi-gods and the element they embody.

In a break from tradition, the equipment is not exclusive to the Hero--both Aishe and Sir Mervyn can don some the armaments as well.

All of the Saint's Equipment is found in the final dungeon, and requires multiple trips through the dungeon to get all four.

Okeanos Sword
<center><small>This blade pulsates with power. Victims won't know what hit them!<br>(Description of the Okeanos Sword in the Nintendo 3DS Version of Dragon Quest VII.)</small></center>

Named after the Greek Titan of the sea, the okeanos sword increases its bearer's attack by +140, their style by +60, and casts Oomph when used in battle. The sword also has trailing damage, similar to the Sword of Ramias, hitting a foe with Zap damage equal to 50% of the original strike's power before resistances (if any) apply.

It can be equipped by The Hero, Sir Mervyn and Aishe.

Gaia Armour
<center><small>Reduces damage from magic- and fire-based attacks.<br>(Description of the Gaia Armour in the Nintendo 3DS Version of Dragon Quest VII.)</small></center>

Named for the Greek Primordial Goddess, the Gaia armor (ガイアーラのよろい) bolsters defence by +125, style by +55, and restores 1 HP every step. It also cuts Frizz, Sizz, Bang, and fire breath damage by 35.

It can be equipped by The Hero and Sir Mervyn.

Pyros Helm
<center><small>Resistant to an array of odious spells and abilities.<br>(Description of the Pyros Helm in the Nintendo 3DS Version of Dragon Quest VII.)</small></center>

Equipping the Pyros helmet (フエーゴのかぶと) increases defence by +53, style by +33, and cuts the accuracy of Whack, Fuddle, Fizzle, and Snooze to 1/8th.

Found in the Cathedral of Blight in the Hellfire Hollow (use the Fire Amulet to call upon the Spirit of Fire to proceed at the dead end).

Unfortunately the Pyros Helm provides less defense than the Metal King Helm, but is still better than all helmets purchasable with currency and a serviceable alternative for those not willing to grind the 50,000 Casino Ticket price (at Buccanham Palace: Present Casino) for the MKH.

It can be equipped by The Hero and Aishe.

Aeras Shield
<center><small>Reduces damage from magic- and ice-based attacks.<br>(Description of the Aeras Shield in the Nintendo 3DS Version of Dragon Quest VII.)</small></center>

Increasing defence by +60, style by +30, the Aeras shield (トルナードのたて) will cut the power of Woosh, Crack, frigid breath, and Maelstrom by 30. it will also cast Bound when used in battle.

It can be equipped by The Hero, Sir Mervyn and Aishe.
The Hero and Party arrive here due to having obtained the Multipleximus key to obtain the stolen Cirrus surplice.

Detail
As with the Villa Priores layout, the dungeon is a 3D maze that requires traveling each part carefully to find the right portal. Additionally to reach a different part, there are tunnels for The Party to leap down.

Additionally, this and a similar area in the Cathedral of Blight are the only areas that like the ocean still consist of random monster encounters. in the Nintendo 3DS Version.

The Paladin (パラディン, Paradin) is a defensively-oriented vocation in the Dragon Quest series. Originally, the vocation was depicted as more of a "Holy Karate-ka" rather than the typical heavily armored knight. Starting with IX, the vocation has shifted to better reflect the popular perception.

Description
The Paladin increases Strength, Agility and Wisdom in VI and VII, and possess a low chance of killing the enemy instantly by striking a soft spot. This chance rises when the higher rank the paladin is, and varies between two titles.

In IX, the Paladin loses its ability to instantly slay monsters in exchange for a much more durable body, focusing the vocation's skills and spells entirely on defending the party.

Dragon Quest VI
A character needs to master both the Martial Artist and Priest vocations to become a Paladin.
Usefulness
The Paladin's innate ability to instantly kill one enemy is low even at rank 8, and will not work on bosses. As for the skills, Kerplunk isn't a useful skill except as a last resort. Forbearance and Selflessness are extremely useful, but extra care must be used when facing enemies that utilize multi-target skills and spells, as the Paladin will take up to four times the damage. Thin Air is a very useful skill as, like Wind Sickles, it grows stronger with higher levels. Pearly Gates is also useful but due to the fact that it only hits one group and it cost 20 MP to cast, you are better off using Thin Air.

In regards to career advancement, the Paladin can combine the mastered Gladiator class to become a Godhand and have access to some of the best offensive skills in the game.

The Paladin vocation is late in the game after completing Quest 114. Paladins have the unique skillset "Virtue", and can also use skill points to learn Hammer, Spear, Wand, and Shield skills. Their Coup-de-Grace is "Knight's Watch," which prevents all damage and enrages all enemies.

Many players consider the vocation to be a Goddess-send when facing Legacy Bosses, as the beasts can very easily obliterate an unguarded party even at high levels. Due to elemental resisting equipment now working off of percentages rather than static numbers, it is slightly easier to keep a Paladin alive when he or she bears the brunt of a multi-striking ability.
The Divine Shrine (formerly known as the Sky Fane) is a location in Dragon Quest VII. This fortress is the home of the Holy Order of the Almighty and floats high above in the heavens, thanks to the power of the Sacred Stones.

Story
The party first arrives at the shrine after using the Sacred Stone received at Aeolus Vale at the Altar of Arrival near Faraday in the present. When held aloft, a platform lowers from above, which transports the party to the heavens. There a member of the Holy Order of the Almighty is surprised that someone from the ground in possession of a Sacred Stone. He wonders if they have arrived to late, but welcomes them to the shrine in any case. There they meet a dancer who entrusts the party with the Vestment of Virtue, a holy garment necessary for performing the Ritual of Restoration. This is the very same dress worn by Lala when the party visited the Roamers in the past.

The party eventually learns that the Roamers were originally descended from the Holy Order themselves, but their shrine fell from the sky after the Almighty's defeat at the hands of Orgodemir. From then on, the Roamers were forced to wander from place to place, in order to prevent the Demon King and his minions from reaching them and so they could eventually perform the Ritual of Restoration for the Almighty.

In the northern part of the shrine lies a pedestal for placing Mysterious Fragments which transports the party into the past to the Pool of Piety, another shrine of the Holy Order which fell to the earth. There the party travels underwater through the Coral Cave to the Altar of Arrival, which bears the insignia of the Almighty. They hold the Sacred Stone aloft there, which sends the shrines there floating into the sky in order to fully complete the Divine Shrine.

Upon returning to the Divine Shrine in the present, the Divine Shrine is now complete, with the western and southern wings now available. The western part of the shrine has shops where the party can purchase powerful equipment. In the southern part of the shrine, the party meets the High Priestess of the Order, who tells them that thanks them for their efforts to complete the Divine Shrine and explains the true nature of the Sacred Stones, which are more than cold rocks. She states that they are imbued with the hopes and dreams of people of the world. Just then, the Skystone arrives at the shrine, which is borne from the same origins as the Sacred Stones and allows the party to travel anywhere in the world with the power of flight.

When the party finally defeats Orgodemir, they are transported from the Cathedral of Blight back to the Divine Shrine, where the High Priestess and all of the Holy Order wish to give their thanks for bringing peace back to the world. She states that it was not due to any miracle or intervention from the Almighty Himself, but because of their courage and efforts.
Disruptive Wave (originally DeMagic) is a recurring skill in the Dragon Quest series. Introduced in Dragon Quest III as a monster-exclusive attack, it nullifies all stat changes, such as those caused by buffs (Kabuff, Oomph), debuffs (Kasap, Deceleratle), and Tension.

It is typically known by major bosses and is almost always used by the final bosses, making the use of stat changing moves futile in such battles if one's luck is unrelentingly bad.
Appearances
Dragon Quest III
Used by Zoma.

Dragon Quest IV
Disruptive Wave is a technique used by enemies such as Estark, Psaro the Manslayer, and Aamon. However, the hero can unleash this by using the Zenithian sword as a tool in battle.

In the remakes, Disruptive Wave is one of the special abilities that Psaro can learn.

Dragon Quest V
Disruptive Wave is learned by recruited king slimes at level 18. As in Dragon Quest IV, the Zenithian sword can unleash this effect if used as a tool in battle.

Dragon Quest VI
Disruptive Wave is learned by heroes when they become Town Heroes (rank 2).

Dragon Quest VII
Learned via the Hero vocation as in VI, but also by reaching rank 6 of the Druid vocation in the PSX version and rank 3 in the 3DS, or rank 7 of the Paladin vocation in the 3DS version only. It is superior (and cheaper) than The Great Leveller as it covers more effects.

Dragon Quest VIII
Disruptive Wave is used by most of the later story bosses, starting with Dhoulmagus.

Dragon Quest IX
Disruptive Wave is learned with 42 skill points allocated into Enlightenment skill. It costs 10MP to cast.

It is worth noting that Disruptive Wave acts slightly different in this installment as it now only affects the opposition. This makes debuffs viable against many bosses since they can't use the ability to clear them away. This isn't used as heavily by the story bosses (only King Godwyn and Corvus uses it). However, several of the grotto bosses and all the legacy bosses will use this ability.

Dragon Quest Monsters
Dragon Quest Monsters 2
Dragon Quest Monsters: Caravan Heart
Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker
Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 2
Dragon Quest Heroes: The World Tree's Woe and the Blight Below
Psaro can learn the ability when he joins for 8 skill points, and the skill only strips buffs from its targets instead of all stat modifiers. It costs 8 MP to use. He will also use it against the player in the battle against him. Additionally, Tension is not reduced when used.

Trivia
*The refers to Zoma's ice magic, as he was the first to use the skill.
*In the initial English version of Dragon Quest VIII, it was referred to as a Wave of Ice, a literal translation of its Japanese name. Subsequent releases, such as the cell phone and Nintendo 3DS versions, have changed it to Disruptive Wave.
The Druid (天地雷鳴士, Heaven and Earth Raimeishi) is a high ranking magical vocation that first appeared in Dragon Quest VII.

Description
The Druid's magical power is unparalleled by any human, the very forces of nature bowing to their every whim. The tides, the storms, even the cracking fury of the earth itself is under their control. Simply put, the druid has access to every worthwhile spell in the game and has more than enough MP to put them to use.

The Druid also casts spells for less MP, much like the Sage. In order to become a Druid, one must master both the Sage and Luminary vocations. The druid has managed to negate most of the physical stat reductions that afflicted the aforementioned classes, having to endure only a slight cut to HP and strength and even enjoying a faint increase to resilience.

<center>A master of attack and recovery magic who is also able to call on the power of the spirits. --Description from Dragon Quest VII </center>

The Sage (賢者, Kenja) is a recurring vocation in the Dragon Quest series. Proficient with both schools of magic, they are often the most powerful casters in their respective games.

Requirements
Irrespective of the title is being played, the path of the Sage always entails steep prerequisites.

Dragon Quest III
In order for a party member to become a Sage, that member must be level 20 and have the Words of Wisdom and take it to the Alltrades Abbey. There, they may become a Sage. The Gadabout is the only class that doesn't need the scroll to become a Sage; instead, all they need is to reach level 20.

Dragon Quest VI
In order to become a Sage, the party member must first master the Mage and the Priest vocations. As a Sage, that particular party member's spells will cost less MP to cast as their rank increases, eventually casting for only 50% of the original cost.

Dragon Quest VII
In order to become a sage in Dragon Quest VII, the party member must first master both the Priest and Mage vocations as before. By also mastering the Luminary, characters can become Druids and gain even more magical skill.

The Sage is one of the advanced classes in the game, once again requiring the character to master both the Priest and Mage vocations first. Mastering the Sage vocation is also necessary to become a Druid, along with Luminary. As the Sage advances in ranks, the MP cost of spells decreases.
(The Sage vocation is late in the game after completing Quest 115. Sages have the unique skillset "Enlightenment", and can also use skill points to learn Boomerang, Bow, Wand, and Shield skills. Their Coup-de-Grace is "Spelly Breath," which recharges a portion of their MP.

Sages are no longer the literal hybrid of Magi and Priests, but nevertheless have access to incredible magical capabilities. They can reinforce the party with kabuff and magic barrier, decimate foes with darkness and explosions, and keep their allies alive with Multi-and-Moreheal. However, Sages can't deal the same level of damage Magi can, nor can they heal as effectively as a Priest without carefully selected equipment. Thus, parties seeking powerful multi-target damage should stick with a Mage, and those wanting powerful healing spells should stick with a Priest. On the other hand, combining the elements of a Mage and a Priest can free up a slot in the party, allowing for more versatile group combinations.
