Luminary cannot be unlocked until the main story is completed. To unlock the luminary class, you have to go to the dance club in Gleeba. Go over to the left side, near the girls' makeup room and talk a girl named Applaudia. She tells you to kill a moai minstrel with the hot lick ability. After doing so, go back and talk to her to unlock the luminary class.

The Prince of Midenhall, also known as the Prince of Lorasia (ローレシア王子), is one of the three playable characters from Dragon Quest II. He is a descendant of Erdrick who responds to the sudden rising threat of Hargon. He inherited all of his ancestor's physical strength, but unlike his cousins the Prince of Cannock and the Princess of Moonbrooke, he cannot use magic, and as such is the only Dragon Quest main hero who doesn't possess any magical ability. The Japanese version depicts the Prince of Midenhall as a man of convictions who is determined to protect his kingdom and his world. This also holds true in the American version.

Appearance and Personality
The Hero wears blue for the most part, though the goggles that rest on his helmet are brown. His sword is typical aside from the hand cover built into the hilt, and his shield is adorned with Erdrick's symbol.

Even though the Hero is a silent protagonist and his personailty is open for the player to define, a strong sense of justice can be seen in the begining of the game, as he sets out to stop Hargon's evil cult without so much as a "But thou must" question from the King.

Although the Hero is the only nameable character, he remains equal in stature with his 2 companions in Dragon Quest II, the Prince of Cannock and the Princess of Moonbrooke. All 3 are descendants of Erdrick. This varies from other games in the series where only the hero is of notable birth compared to his party companions.
*Like many of the main heroes in the series, he is a silent protagonist.
*He can reach a maximum level of 50.
*In the Japanese version of the game, he is depicted as the tallest of the cousins.
*In the artwork for the American NES version of the game, he is still wearing Erdrick's signature blue armor, but the shield had been changed from blue to red.

Dhoulmagus is an important figure in Dragon Quest VIII. Until his defeat at the hands of the Hero's party, he is apparently the player's central enemy in their journey. Lord Rhapthorne, however, is the true villain of the game.

Dhoulmagus is a jester who came to Trodain castle. His deep desire to be the greatest magician of all time and resentment towards those who laughed at him fueled his breaking into the castle's secret chamber to obtain the legendary scepter of Rhapthorne. Almost immediately, he was overwhelmed by Rhapthorne's power and made to do such dastardly things as his pawn. Possessed by Rhapthorne, he killed his first four victims: His former master Rylus, the swordsman Alistair (Jessica's brother), Abbot Francisco, and Mr. Golding, the casino owner. The Hero and party eventually defeated him after a long chase, where the sceptor's dark influence transformed him into a monstrous creature. Upon his defeat, King Trode discovered that the curse on him and his daughter, Medea, had not been broken. Shortly after, Jessica would retrieve the sceptre, and become enthralled by it's malicious power.

Characteristics
His human form is quite formidable, but his demonic form is truly powerful and not to be underestimated by the player's party.
Dhoulmagus is very powerful compared to most enemies fought at that stage. In his first form, he summons two copies of himself which use the same abilities as him, and all three must be defeated to advance. The three possess heavy blows which strike multiple members, such has hurling rubble by telekinesis, or firing thousands of whip like strands out of his sceptre. they can also heal using Midheal, making any attempt to damage them awkward. further contributing to the difficulty of this boss, He can attack with a "disruptive wave of energy" described in some guides as wave of ice. Rather than dealing damage, this removes every positive effect from the party, resetting their tension, and negating ooomph, haste, buff etc. The danger of this is that it not only halts any large scale offensive, but also makes the party vulnerable to his own attacks. More conventionally, he can use very powerful fire and ice spells, as well as a normal attack. fortunately, he has a tendency to burst out laughing, wasting turns.

Other Appearances
Outside his main role in Dragon Quest VIII, Dhoulmagus also makes appearances in these titles.
Dhoulmagus appears as a Legacy Boss in Dragon Quest IX. His map can be dropped from Murdaw at higher levels (and thus can be obtained multiple times).

Birds of terrordise (then HellHawk) make their first appearance, though it is not until around the end that they appear. They are incredibly powerful, boasting high stats and the most lethal of the fire breath attacks. Ashlynn (バーバラ Barbara) is a playable character in Dragon Quest VI. She starts as a mage-type character and learns the powerful spell, Magic Burst, without use of the vocation system.

Story
start
She is from the magical city, Sorceria, which had been sealed away by Gracos. The player will first encounter her in the Moonmirror Tower as a spirit, similar to what the Hero and Carver were, and she joins the party after they retrieve Ra's Mirror.

After journeying into the Archfiend's realm and defeating Mortamor, the group returns to a world at peace and the party returns to their homes except for Ashlynn who only briefly returns to her home to tell everyone what has happened and she is then informed that she should study at Zenithia and learn from King Zenith. She chooses however to stay with the hero. Upon arriving at the hero's palace, both are greeted by the King and Queen who compliment the young "couple" much to their shyness and invite them to the royal celebration. However when the hero begins searching for Ashlynn he finds her in the throne room and sees her beginning to fade away with the Dream World which is now separating from reality. The Hero and Ashlynn tearfully say their farewells as she disappears along with the Dream World. All that then remains of the Dream World is Zenithia.

After the end credits, the reunited party gathers at Madame Luca's house upon Milly's request who shows them something through her crystal ball. They then see Ashlynn alive and well and residing in Zenithia where she is witnessing the hatching of an egg that holds a new future. Upon hatching the egg releases a stunning light which amazes Ashlynn and the onlookers.
Trivia
*It is noted many times that Ashlynn is in love with the Hero, saying things such as "Hey Hero, I got a new outfit today. Do I look good in it?" or "Aah love, I know how she feels..." or "If I were her I'd pick you over Buddy, but...", even the Hero's parents compliment them on being a cute couple.
*Ashlynn's presence on Zenithia likely either means the palace still has a connection to the Dream World and the others can still visit her there or that she somehow managed to gain a real body.

A temporary save is a saving mechanism included in newer Dragon Quest games and remakes. It allows the player to quickly save the same without being at a typical 'save' location. However, the save is volatile and will be deleted after the player resumes play from the save point. This mechanism is useful when the player must quit the game quickly without having time to travel to a save point.
