The platinum king jewel (originally PlatKing / Platinum King due to display constraints) is a recurring monster in the Dragon Quest series. Introduced in Dragon Quest VII, it is a gem slime variant that normally acts as the single largest source of experience in the games it appears in, above even that of the metal king slime.

Characteristics
Platinum king jewels are silver-colored versions of gem slimes. Like their golden counterparts, platinum king jewels are shaped like gems and have tiara-esque crowns.

Like other metal monsters, platinum king jewels have absurd defense, speed, and a notorious habit for fleeing from battles. Unlike other metal monsters, however, the platinum king jewel also has high HP, normally around 200, which means landing a critical hit is the only possible way to defeat one short of an obscene amount of good luck. Making matters worse is their ability to use Dazzle to ensure that melee attackers never even get a chance to hit them, let alone defeat them.

Appearances
Dragon Quest IV
Absent from the original release, platinum king jewels appear as monsters in the enhanced remakes' bonus dungeon alongside several other monsters from Dragon Quest VII, No a game that preceded the enhanced remakes.

Dragon Quest VII
Platinum king jewels (then PlatKing) are first seen, being one of a few palette swaps of the Gem Slime. The heart of a platinum king jewel can also be obtained as a means of assuming that monster class. Additionally, these monsters are extremely rare and have a high experience yield.

DQVC is an online shopping network available through the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection in Dragon Quest IX. To use it the player must advance the story sufficently that the NPC Sellma appears in Quester's Rest in Stornway. The service not only carries items, but extra quests and treasure maps.

DQVC becomes available after the player lands at Alltrades Abbey after returning to the Observatory. The items available are different for each player.

New items and quests are available every day at 8:00 AM GMT. If an earlier quest has not been downloaded, it will be downloaded as well.

It appears that there is some carry over from the previous day with some items being repeated.

Zenus is the Almighty One, the ultimate ruler of the in-game universe of Dragon Quest IX, father of Celestria, and the dweller of Realm of the Almighty.

Trivia
* The name Zenus is a play on the name of the king of gods in Greek Mythology, Zeus.
* According to the grotto boss Fowleye, the bosses of the grottos (except for Tyrannasaurus Wrecks and Greygnarl) are parts of Zenus, who was fragmented into ten beings which were then sealed away under unknown circumstances. Despite the apparent unreliability of the source, there are several hints within the bestiary (and the pre-fight chatter from the bosses) that hint that Fowleye's claims might be true.
