The '''Fortress of Fear''' is a dungeon in {{Dragon Quest XI}} and the lair of [[Mordegon]], the Lord of Shadows. It is a castle that floats in the skies of [[Erdrea]] and is surrounded by an oppressive barrier of darkness.

The castle is designed with a series of obstacles and puzzles intended to prevent anyone from reaching further into its depths, while the halls and exterior are guarded by powerful monsters.

The Fortress of Fear becomes Mordegon's base of operations after the destruction of [[Yggdrasil]] at the end of the first act, floating in the center of Erdrea where the World Tree once grew. The party is only able to enter the Fortress by flying there on [[Cetacea]]'s back and using the newly forged [[Sword of Light]] to break through the barrier of darkness.
