His attack spells were adjusted to such that Firebane does considerably more damage, though Firebal has a lower max. damage than it used to. Defeat seems to work more consistently on enemies, with some stronger enemies possibly being now immune however. He still suffers in terms of defense and survivability still having weakest resistances to magic and breath attacks.

Overall he is an attempt at a balanced character, his spells for dealing damage and healing HP aren't as powerful as the Princess or Moonbrooke's and his strength and weapon options aren't as good as the Prince of Midenhall's. However he gets, very helpful spells such as Stopspell and Stepguard. His spells are more MP efficient for what they do especially in the GBC remake with the power boosts.
