The '''skeleton soldier''' is a recurring {{MFamilies}} in the {{DQSeries}}, introduced in the original [[Dragon Quest|game]]. It is a stronger variant of the [[Skeleton]] with the ability to heal itself with magic.

[[Undead family|Skeleton]] soldiers are garbed in red or olive tunics, dull purple leggings, leather boots and gloves, and a belt with a ruby on its buckle around its waist. They were formerly knights in the living world, but have retained the ability to cast healing magic in undeath. In some games such as the {{Joker}} spinoffs, the soldiers wield scythes instead of sabres in order to differentiate them from the other skeletons.

Skeleton soldiers appeared from the beginning of the game. They still have their familiar ability to cast [[Midheal]] in battle. They can now hurl their skulls with [[Skeletoss]] and have gained the ability to place [[curses]] on opponents, as well as perform a Curse Attack.

Skeleton soldier appears as a B-rank monster of the [[undead family]] that can be scouted normally from any banner. It can participate in the [[ghost]], {{Ragnar}}, and blossom [[slime]]'s Battle Roads as a party member.
