Moostapha is a boss in Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past.

Characteristics[edit | edit source]

Moostapha is a moose beastman with enormous antlers that wears a green fur tunic over one shoulder and wields a long flail. In both remakes of the game, his appearance was changed slightly to differentiate him from Ginormoose. His fur is now grey and his antlers are golden. He wears a red fur tunic and the end of his flail is silver instead of gold now. Moostapha's name is a combination of "moose" and the given name "Mustafa".

Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past[edit | edit source]

Moostapha and his underlings have been placed in charge of the town of Nottagen, which has been enveloped in darkness through the presence of the dragon Sulkk at the very top of the tower nearby. The only way to enter the tower is with the Sulkk key, which Moostapha keeps with him in the mayor's house. When the party first ventures to Nottagen, they are attacked by the guards and make their way to the mayor's house to acquire the key, interrupting the monster during his precious bath time. Even after being defeated by the adventurers, Moostapha gloats that as long as Sulkk remains, the island of Nottagen will be covered in darkness.

Strategy[edit | edit source]

Moostapha only uses physical attacks against the party, so Buff and Kabuff should be cast on everyone. Attack spells like Frizz are the most effective against him, as well as most physical attacks as long as they don't utilise the strike-element. Although he has a high resistance to Sap, it is still worth casting on him if your main offense is physical. Any characters with low HP and/or Defence should defend if he decides to muster his strength. A sufficiently leveled party should have no trouble against him.
