The deadly nightblade is a recurring dagger in the Dragon Quest series, first appearing in Dragon Quest IX. Its name is a pun on deadly nightshade, a poisonous plant.

Patty comes equipped with a deadly nightblade when she joins the party. The dagger can be upgraded in to the falcon knife earrings when combined with one pair of slime earrings and three agility rings, and can also be turned into an assassin's dagger when mixed with one poison needle and two bolts of evencloth.
Dragon Quest X [edit | edit source]
The deadly nightblade has an Attack bonus of +17, a Style bonus of +3, and increases the wielder's weight by 2. It can be equipped by Mages, Minstrels, Thieves, Dancers, Gadabouts, Demon Swordsmen, and Pirates. It can be crafted with weaponsmithing.
- In the Offline version of the game, it can only be equipped by the Hero as a Mage, Thief, Minstrel, Dancer, or Gadabout, and Duston.
- Recipe: Iron ore x3 + Copper ore x2
Dragon Quest Tact[edit | edit source]
The deadly nightblade is a D-rank dagger that can be acquired as a reward for completing the Daggers: Intermediate level. It has a WIS and max MP bonus of +3 and two slots for Alchemy Effects.
