Sparring suit
The sparring suit is a recurring set of clothing in the series that first appeared in Dragon Quest III: The Seeds of Salvation.

Dragon Quest III: The Seeds of Salvation edit
The sparring suit has a defense bonus of +23, and can only be worn by Fighters and Sages. It can be purchased in Khoryv, Mur, and Persistence for 800 gold coins and sold for 600. In the NES version, one set can be found in Aliahan in a chest that requires the magic key to access. It also happens to be the strongest piece of armor that male Martial Artists can equip in the NES version of the game.

Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies edit
In the Japanese version of the game, the strongsam and the sparring suit are one and the same, but the design has changed and it is now a piece of armor exclusive for female characters. This design would reappear in both X and XI, as well. The male counterpart is the Tussler's top.
