The Walking Corpse is a beginner monster vocation in Dragon Quest VII.
Description[edit | edit source]
The Walking corpse looks like a typical zombie with ragged clothes that shambles about. This vocation offers a moderate increase in Max HP, but extreme drops in Agility, Wisdom, and Style, and slight drops in Resilience and max MP. The character becomes very vulnerable to being stunned, is more susceptible to becoming confused or paralysed, and gains a slight weakness to sleep, poison, Fizzle, Sap, and instant death spells. At rank 8, the character will have a slight resistance to Woosh and Crack spells as a Walking corpse. Mastering the vocation is one of the steps to becoming a Bone baron or a Malevolantern.
Monster Heart[edit | edit source]
In order to become a Walking Corpse, a character must have a monster heart in their inventory and go to Alltrades Abbey to change their vocation. A Walking corpse heart can be found on B1F of the Sunken Citadel in the past. Walking corpses have a 1⁄16 chance of dropping their heart, reducing to 1⁄64 after the first time.
- In the Nintendo 3DS version, it is easier to receive a heart by creating a custom Traveller's Tablet with a Walking corpse as one of the monsters or as the boss.

Trivia[edit | edit source]
- EvilDead, the name of rank 8 in the original Sony PlayStation version is likely a reference to the Evil Dead horror franchise created by filmmaker Sam Raimi.
- Undead and Loving It, the name of rank 8 in the Nintendo 3DS version is a reference to the 1995 horror parody film Dracula: Dead and Loving It directed by Mel Brooks.
