The Dingbat is an intermediate monster vocation in Dragon Quest VII.
Description[edit | edit source]
The Dingbat is an unusual red demon with bird-like features and a huge pair of wings on its back that is a versatile attacker. It offers an slight to moderate increase in most categories and a drop in Wisdom. The vocation also has an increased chance to land a critical hit, with the frequency being calculated as rank 1 = 1/256, 2 = 1/256, 3 = 1/64, 4 = 1/32, 5 = 1/16, 6 = 1/16, 7 = 1/16, 8 = 1/8.
Additionally, reaching rank 8 will grant a character with a slight resistance to all elements (except Woosh and fire breath) and a strong resistance to all status ailments and strike skills. Mastering the vocation is required in order to become a Barbatos or a Prism peacock.
Requirements[edit | edit source]
To become a Dingbat, a character needs to master the Jawtoise, Chimaera, and Kingfuchsia classes or have a monster heart in their inventory when going to Alltrades Abbey to change their vocation. A Dingbat Heart can also be won from the Lucky Panel game in The Haven's casino. Additionally, it can be dropped from Dingbats in the Hidden Pyramid or the Alltrades Abbey region in the present after the events at the Cathedral of Light. However, dingbats only have a 1⁄512 chance of dropping their heart after battle.
- In the Nintendo 3DS version, it is also possible to acquire a Dingbat heart by creating a custom Traveller's Tablet with a Dingbat as the boss.
