The '''Hot dog''' is a recurring {{MFamilies}} in the {{DQSeries}}, first appearing in {{Dragon Quest IV}}.

It is a rabid hound capable of breathing fire. Its name is a play on the [[Wikipedia:Hot dog|food]] of the same name.

==Characteristics==
These red-hot [[Beast family|beast]]s are a cross between lions and rabid dogs, with fine red fur and golden manes, tails, and tufts of fur on their bodies. They have evil-looking solid green eyes and constantly have a trail of drool hanging from their open mouths. The hounds are capable of expelling burning hot gas that sears into the skin of unprepared adventurers. Those that hunt the hot dogs down may be rewarded for their efforts with valuable seeds of life that they can drop.
