==Characteristics==
The wizard's staff is a gnarled wooden staff long enough to be held with two hands and is topped with a red crystal orb held with a gnarled claw. In earlier games in the series, the end of the staff had a metal tip and a smaller blue orb at the bottom end. Starting with ''Dragon Quest VII'', the wizard's staff no longer had the orb at the bottom and the design has stayed the same since then. In some games like ''Dragon Quest X'', it is classified as a [[Heavy Wand (weapon type)|heavy wand]].
