The '''Rimland priestesses''' are a pair of young shrine maidens who speak in unison and watch over the egg of [[Ramia|Ramia the Everbird]] in the forbidding wastes of [[Rimland|the frozen continent at the end of the world]].

The priestesses watch over the unborn Ramia in the [[Shrine of the Everbird]], awaiting the arrival of the {{Hero 3}}. Upon the Hero's arrival, the priestesses describe the legendary [[Six Orbs|six orbs]] with which to hatch the Everbird and speak with urgency to assemble them, warning of the encroaching darkness from the [[Baramos' Lair|Necrogond]].

The twin sisters serve the same role as in past versions of the game, though they now inform the Hero that [[Ortega]] also reached their shrine in the past and lament his disappearance from the world. Humorously the priestesses are also the final opponents of [[Monster Arena (Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake)|rank 10]] of the Jipang monster arena, raising a [[great troll]] and [[terror troll]]. They compliment the Hero for making it so far in the competition, but warn that they will not be underestimated.

The priestesses appear as part of the event based on ''Dragon Quest III''. The twins' outfits are inconsistent with their other depictions, wearing golden blouses with large blue necklaces instead of purple tops with gold necklaces.

==Trivia==
*The Shrine of the Everbird provides little shelter from the tundra of Rimland, implying that the twins are more than common humans for enduring the cold with no issue.
*The twins are based on the [https://wikizilla.org/wiki/Shobijin Shobijin], the little beauties who attend to the kaiju Mothra and serve as her voice when communing with humans. The Shobijin were portrayed by [https://wikizilla.org/wiki/Emi_Ito_and_Yumi_Ito Emi and Yumi Ito], a singing duo known as The Peanuts whom [[Koichi Sugiyama]] wrote songs for from the 1960's to the 70's during his career at Fuji Television. 
*The twins used the stock [[Faerie]] sprites in the NES version of the game, but were given unique sprites in the Super Famicom remake. 
*There are twins on the island of [[Empycchu]] who pay homage to the priestesses, speaking in unison and urging the {{Hero 8}} to collect the six orbs.
