The '''shellmet''' is a recurring piece of headwear in the ''[[Dragon Quest (series)|Dragon Quest]]'' series that first appeared in [[Dragon Quest V]]. It appears to be the shell of a [[seaslime]] and offers a decent amount of protection to wearers at the cost of a little dignity.

The shellmet has a defence bonus of +7. It can be bought for 150 gold at the item shop in [[Coburg]], found in a chest in Coburg castle's dungeon, and has a 1/64 chance of being dropped by [[Old man of the sea]]. It can only be worn by [[Slime|slime]] companions.

Shellmets have a defence bonus of +7 and a style bonus of +3. [[Nevan]], [[Amos]], [[Lizzie]], and all slime allies with the exception of [[Goowain]] can equip it. [[Seaslime|Seaslimes]] drop them 1/64 of the time. They can be purchased for 250 gold in [[Aridea]], [[Scrimsley]], and [[Pescado]]. They can also be sold for 187 gold.
