==Characteristics==
Calasmos first appears as a black [[Tockle]] with a small nebula in the center of its body, being the form its soul was ensnared in after its temporary defeat by [[Erdwin]] several centuries before the game's story. In his true form, Calasmos is a colossal, humanoid insect whose green exoskeleton is pitted with small craters that betray his otherworldly origin. The connective tissue at the joints is blue, and the head is infantile and almost perfectly round. Calasmos has no neck to speak of, with its head being ensconced by its armor.

The monster's precise height is unknown and varies slightly between the HD, 3DS, and 2D versions of the game but easily towers over the main cast. The upper torso is bulky and fitted with six small orbs over an oval center gem. The arms are as long as the main body and terminate into different appendages, with the right being a three-pronged claw with an inorganic nozzle and the left ending in a digitless stump possessing six bullet chamber-esque opening from which projectiles are fired. The lower torso is made up of overlapping armor plates that rattle with the creature's movements, and the legs are undersized for the hulking body.

Calasmos' personality is one of almighty contempt for beings that dwell in the light, and it seeks to eradicate all life on the planet.
