In the ''Dragon Quest III'' remakes, wit is a personality that improves wisdom growth, but reduces strength and luck growth.

At the start of the game, the hero becomes a wit by receiving the final test of character in the castle. Before leaving the test, the hero must tell the chancellor a king's orders must be obeyed, contradict the first answer and say the orders are not set in stone, and confirm the second answer and saying orders can be ignored. Alternatively, the hero can tell the chancellor a king's orders don't have to be obeyed, confirm that a king's orders can be disobeyed, and again confirm that it's better to do what he sees fit than blindly follow orders.

Other party members have a chance to be a wit when talent scouted at [[Patty's Party Planning Place]], depending on their stat bonuses.

The wit personality decreases strength by 5%, decreases resilience by 10%, has no influence on agility & stamina, increases wisdom by 30%, and decreases luck by 10%. Any character can become a bright boy or girl by popping on a pair of [[scholar's specs]].
