The ship is called the Salty Stallion in this game, and belongs to the party member [[Sylvando]]. He mentions that he bought it on impulse during a flash sale, and was delighted that he would be able to put it to use for the {{Party 11}}. The {{Hero 11}} and the rest of the party gain the ship after the events in [[Gondolia]]. The ship is also mostly steered by [[Dave]] (Sylvando steers in cutscenes, occasionally), who must be spoken to in order to board the ship from land, though his plot role is very small.

At first only the inland sea is accessible, but the party gains access to the open seas after they open the sea gates to the Valor-Sauvage Channel—this is accomplished with the aid of Servantes in [[Puerto Valor]]. Soon after this, the party also obtains [[Lorelei's harp]] from the [[mermaid]] [[Michelle]], which allows them to access the underwater village of [[Nautica]], as well as to travel quickly between connected pillars of light on the seas.

The Hero loses access to the ship at the beginning of Act 2 due to being separated from his companions. The Salty Stallion is accessible again once Sylvando and [[Rab]] have rejoined the party. The Hero regains Lorelei's harp after reuniting with [[Jade]], who somehow acquired it between The Fall and her character story (in the {{DQ11S}} version). Note that the ''effects'' of the harp are still not accessible until [[Alizarin]] has been defeated.

Additionally, the party will find [[Erik]] as a stowaway on the Salty Stallion after sailing out of the Valor-Sauvage Channel for the first time.
