==Trivia==
*Malroth has some similarities to [[Wikipedia:Shiva|Shiva]], the Hindu god of destruction and one of the three principle deities of Hinduism. Shiva is commonly depicted as having blue skin and multiple arms and is known as the Destroyer. However, Shiva is also known as the Creator as well, as new creation couldn't take place without first having destruction, and Shiva does not take part in blind, needless destruction.
* It is speculated that the gauntlet of bosses in the [[Hall of Hargon]] ([[Atlas]], [[Pazuzu]], [[Belial]]) were, worst case scenario, at least meant to stall the Luminaries while Hargon performed the ritual to summon Malroth. Since Hargon was defeated before the ritual was finished, he sacrificed what little life he had left as a last ditch effort to summon the God of Destruction. This raises the question of how much more powerful Malroth's avatar would be if the ritual was completed properly.
*His human form in {{Builders 2}} is voiced by [[Kenjiro Tsuda]], though he doesn't talk and only makes various sounds to indicate his mood. In ''[https://twitter.com/DQ_RIVALS/status/1227177547030384640 Dragon Quest Rivals]'', he can be heard speaking for the first time.
*The splitting of Malroth into good and bad halves is reminiscent of the characters Kami and Piccolo from [[Akira Toriyama]]'s ''[[Dragon Ball]]'' manga. The two were originally an unnamed being whose expelled inner darkness manifested as a violent doppelganger.
* It's unclear just how much of the demonic Malroth in {{Builders 2}} is the original and how much is Hargon. Since Hargon gave up his soul to power the original and is thus still around circa {{Builders 2}} as a result, it's quite possible the reason both Hargon and his illusion world persisted was due to this soul fusion creating a link sustaining both, and since the demonic Malroth largely reflects Hargon's own desires, the demonic one in ''Builders 2'' seems to be a mix of Hargon's own persona and the more negative aspects of Malroth as a humanoid combined.
*The tendency for Malroth to excel as the party healer in the ''Monsters'' series is an homage to his tendency to cast Fullheal in the original version of ''II''.
