The Cautery sword has an {{Attack}} bonus of +45 and can be equipped by the {{Hero 4}}, [[Ragnar]], [[Torneko]], and the [[Psaro (Character)|last party member]]. When used as a tool in battle, it casts [[Sizz]] on a group of enemies. One can be found in a treasure chest on 1F of the [[Loch Tur]] in Chapter 1. During [[Dragon Quest IV Chapter 3|Chapter 3]] while playing as Torneko, there is a small chance that a customer may sell him a cautery sword, allowing you to purchase it. It can also be purchased in [[Aubout du Monde]] from Chapter 5 onward, [[Mintos]], and [[Canalot]] for 3,500 gold and sold for 2,625 gold.
