Finessence has a 10% chance of being found in [[List_of_treasure_map_treasure_chest_ranks_in_Dragon_Quest_IX#Rank_5/E|Rank 5]] blue treasure chests. One can be received as a reward from the first-time completion of [[Template:DQIXQuest/37|Quest #37]]: Funghi for a Fun Guy. It could be purchased for 1,700 gold from the [[DQVC]] when it was still available during Alchaid Week 3 and it can be sold for 850 gold.

Finessence can be made in the [[Krak Pot]] and is used in the following alchemy recipes:
