==Appearances== ===DQ3=== The Hero vocation is available only to the Player themselves. It has access to incredibly powerful spells and equipment forbidden to other vocations, the former of which would serve as the foundation for appearances in later titles. The Hero enjoys superb strength and resilience, decent agility and luck, but substandard wisdom and MP. {| style="width:65%; height:100px; text-align:center" border="1" |-<---!Headings are up first.!---> style="font-weight:bold; background:#439CD0" | Attribute || Starting Stats || Maximum Stats |- style="font-weight:normal" | Level || 1 || 99 |- | HP || 15 || 446 |- | MP || 6 || 218 |- | Strength || 8 || 181 |- | Agility || 6 || 156 |- | Resilience || 7 || 244 |- | Wisdom || 6 || 126 |- | Luck || 5 || 157 |- | Initial gear ||colspan=2|Cypress stick, Plain clothes |} *NES version {| style="width:65%; height:100px; text-align:center" border="1" |-<---!Headings are up first.!---> style="font-weight:bold; background:#439CD0" | Level Learned || Original Japanese || GBC Localization || Modern Localization || MP || Description |- style="font-weight:normal" | 2 || ăĄă©
Mera || Blaze || Frizz || 2 || A simple fire spell; affects one enemy |- | 4 || ăă€ă
Hoimi || Heal || Heal || 3 || A simple healing spell |- | 6 || ăăă©ă
Nifuramu || Expel || Poof || 2 || Blows away weak enemies |- | 8 || ă«ăŒă©
Ruura || Return || Zoom || 8 || Instantaneous travel to a previously visited location |- | 10 || ăźă©
Gira || Firebal || Sizz || 4 || A weak fire spell that affects a group of enemies |- | 12 || ăąăčăăăł
Asutoron || Ironize || Kaclang || 6 || Makes the party immune to all enemy attacks for a short period of time |- | 14 || ăȘăŹăă
Riremito || Outside || Evac || 8 || Exit a cave/dungeon with this spell |- | 17 || ă©ăȘăăŒ
Rarihoo || Sleep || Snooze || 3 || May put a group of enemies to Sleep |- | 19 || ăăăăŒăł
Mahotoon || StopSpell || Fizzle || 3 || Try to block the enemies' spell |- | 19 || ăăăăč
Toherosu || Repel || Holy Protection || 4 || Causes weak enemies to leave you alone |- | 24 || ăăźă©ă
Begirama || Firebane || Sizzle || 6 || This fire spell affects a group of enemies |- | 26 || ă©ă€ăă€ăł
Raidein || Zap || Zap || 8 || Affects one enemy; the first lightning type spell |- | 29 || ăăă€ă
Behoimi || Healmore || Midheal || 5 || A stronger form of Heal |- | 31 || ă€ăȘă©
Iora || Boom || Boom || 9 || Damages all targets with a powerful explosion |- | 33 || ăăă
Behoma || Healall ||Fullheal || 7 || Restores an ally to full health |- | 35 || ă¶ăȘă©ă«
Zaoraru || Vivify || Zing || 10 || 50% chance to revive a deceased party member |- | 38 || ăăăășăł
Behomazun || Healusall || Omniheal || 62 || Restores the party to full health |- | 41 || ăźăŹăă€ăł
Gigadein || Thordain || Kazap || 30 || Causes around 200 points of electrical damage to all enemies |} ===DQ3HD=== The Hero has been buffed considerably for the second remake, with focus on MP growth in particular to live up to the archetypal magic knight found in the protagonists of later games. The Hero is the most balanced of the three advanced vocation, lacking the specialist nature of Champions and Druids but also being able to handle a wider variety of situations. This is especially true in the Nintendo 3DS remake, where the vocation learns every major attack spell, support spell, every elemental slash, and enough situational abilities to disable any group of foes. In order to become a Hero, one must master three intermediate classes or two intermediate classes and one advanced class. This steep time investment applies to all characters, even the Hero 7, who does not get a shortcut as his predecessor of Dragon Quest VI did. The player can also obtain a Hero Heart from defeating The Almighty in 20 turns or less, though unlike Monster Hearts (or other Monster Vocations), the skills learned from mastering the Hero Heart do not transfer to other vocations. {| class="wikitable" |- !
