==Appearances== ===Dragon Quest XI=== ====Act One==== Before the Hero, freshly 16, sets out on his adventure, his mom Amber tells him to consult the Heliodorian king, as per his late grandfather's request. startUpon meeting for the first time, the King confirms with him that he has come because he is the Luminary, and asks for the name of his hometown. Afterwards, he sends his loyal knight Jasper with some other soldiers to Cobblestone before his other knight Hendrik confronts the Luminary, accusing him of trying to deceive the King. The King's welcoming demeanor is gone now, declaring that the Hero is a Darkspawn, and orders his guards to imprison the young man. Led by Hendrik, guards escort the Luminary to the deepest, darkest corner of the Heliodor dungeons. The Luminary ends up escaping with Erik, the other fugitive there, and the King is enraged, having expected that the Luminary was to be executed in three days. Throughout Act One, the Luminary is continuously being chased down by Heliodorian guards. When the Hero and Erik find the three-sided rock at Cobblestone Falls and unearth the chest buried beneath, it is revealed that Chalky had only requested him to go to Heliodor at his coming-of-age because of a letter from his biological mother Eleanor he had found in the Luminary's basket when he had drifted into the Falls, where she writes that he should go to the King to seek guidance. At Dundrasil later on, Rab (the Luminary's biological grandfather) tells the party that King Carnelian's actions have been strange lately, as he was always so insistent that the Luminary was a sign of light and not darkness like he claims now. He tells them that, after fishing the princess of Heliodor (Jade) out of the river (due to falling in as she was escaping Dundrasil castle on the day it fell), he attempted to bring her back to Heliodor but they both decided that the King's behaviour was too fishy for Jade to return. They set off on an adventure together to figure out what was wrong, traversing the world for any clues, and only finding out a singular name: Mordegon. At Yggdrasil, the party is taken by surprise by Jasper, who has gotten his hands on one of the Six Orbs that they left behind at the Altar in order to make a path upwards. Using the dark magic channeled from this orb, he defeats the party easily with his inpenetrable barrier. When the King and Hendrik catch up, Hendrik accuses Jasper of treason, but the King shoots him in the back with an orb of dark magic, and he collapses. The King, now emanating with dark magic, hobbles forward before collapsing to the ground as well as Mordegon exits his body. Mordegon steals the power of the Luminary from the Hero and uses it to enter the Heart of Yggdrasil, taking the Super Sword of Light and draining Yggrasil of all its magic.end ====Act Two==== startWhen the Hero decides to head to Cobblestone after The Fall, he finds that it has been transformed into the Last Bastion, a safe haven protected by Heliodorian guards with King Carnelian inside as well. He apologises profusely to the Luminary for all the trouble he must have caused, though solely based on recounts from others because he has no recollection of his time possessed by Mordegon. After the party makes their way back to the ruins of Dundrasil, they are able to access the previously-inaccessible Dundrasil dungeons and encounter the empty shell of the Luminary's father Irwin, who painfully laments the loss of his wife, child and kingdom. When interacting with him, the Luminary is sucked into a vision from the Gloomnivore, who forces the Luminary into an illusionary Dundrasil to witness what happened the day it fell. He witnesses a re-enactment of the Colloquy of Kings, the meeting of all kings of Erdrea to discuss important things, this meeting being called for the birth of the Luminary.end ====Postgame==== startThe Hero time travels to the past, before The Fall, at the beginning of postgame. When the Party 11 go up to Yggdrasil, the Hero catches Jasper before he is able to make a move, and the party defeats him easily with the Sword of Shadows breaking through his magic shield this time around. King Carnelian (still possessed by Mordegon) and Hendrik reach the scene, and the King declares that Jasper is a traitor before killing him with his sword. He fumbles for words afterwards, having expected that Jasper would succeed in his mission, and decides to invite the party back to the castle for a banquet and a place to stay for the night. He is extremely awkward when reconciling with his daughter Jade. That night, the King sneaks into the Luminary's room to try and steal the Super Sword of Light, but is stopped by a strange tockle. The sword clatters to the ground, waking up the Luminary and also the rest of the party, who burst into the room. He then teleports off to the Throne Room where Mordegon reveals himself, and the party fights him. The day after, he apologises for his actions (even if he does not recall his time being possessed by Mordegon) and is happy to reunite with his long-lost daughter, supporting the party on their journey. The Luminary, after talking with the Elder Eegoltap at Havens Above, can talk with him again for a special cutscene with Jade, where they talk about her future as a queen of Heliodor. He then gifts her the golden tiara.end
