They're also the first metal monsters that it's ''reasonable'' to use for level-grinding; even without the Spear quest in your log, their spawn rate seems to be quite a lot higher than that the basic [[Metal slime]]s in the [[Quarantomb]].

Metal medleys appeared from the beginning of the game, dropping 3,618 experience when defeated (triple that of a normal metal slime). Once again, they are able to cast [[Kerfrizz]] and have a high chance of fleeing. In order to discourage players from leveling too quickly, metal medleys only accompany other monsters rather than appearing on the field.

Starting with Version 1.2 of the game, metal medleys can occasionally be encountered on the hidden floors of Magic Labyrinths. Version 2.3 introduced the metal labyrinth invitation ticket, which allows players to visit a special labyrinth populated only by metal slimes. At least three metal medleys can be encountered there, giving players a reliable way to encounter them. In Version 3.0, an item known as the Metal medley ticket would cause a metal medley to appear when used as a tool in battle.
