Known as the '''lesser panacea''' in this game, it will completely restore a party member's {{HP}} and cure them of the effects of [[poison]] and [[paralysis]]. Some lesser panaceas can be found in the [[Kingdom of Trodain]]{{tt|*|Requires the Magic Key}}, [[Arcadia]], and the [[Isolated Plateau]]. Others can only be made in the [[Alchemy Pot]] and it can be refined even further into a [[Greater panacea]]. In the Nintendo 3DS version, lesser panaceas can be found randomly in blue treasure chests in the [[Baccarat Region]], the [[Kingdom of Argonia]], [[Northwest Isle]], and the [[Desert (Dragon Quest VIII)|Desert]]. 

In the original Sony PlayStation 2 version, lesser panaceas can be sold for 550 gold each for the first 5 sold, 385 gold for the 6th to 10th sold, then dropping even further to only 165 gold each from the 11th onward. Since the Alchemy Pot works instantly in the 3DS version, lesser panaceas can only be sold for 210 gold each for the first 5 sold, 147 gold each for the 6th to 10th, then only 63 gold each from the 11th onward.
