It has a {{fraction|1|64}} chance of being dropped by [[Overtoad]] and a {{fraction|1|128}} chance of being dropped by [[Shadow]]. In the original NES version, the thorn whip was simply a normal weapon that could only target a single enemy.
*In remake versions, the thorn whip has an {{Attack}} bonus of +19 and can be equipped by the Hero, [[Mage|Mages]], Gadabouts, [[Thief|Thieves]], and Sages. It has now gained the ability to target a single group of enemies from ''V'', but can no longer be equipped by Warriors or Merchants.
