In the ''Dragon Quest III'' remakes, wimp is a personality that improves wisdom and luck growth, but reduces strength, agility, and resilience growth.

At the start of the game, the hero becomes a wimp by receiving the final test of character in the well. The hero must leave the test after breathing fire on three to six NPCs, including the mother, the nun, or both, but must not breathe fire on the child. Alternatively, the hero can breathe fire on any seven to nine NPCs, but must not breathe fire on the child. All NPCs, including the required one at the well and the dog, count toward this total.

Other party members have a chance to be a wimp when talent scouted at [[Patty's Party Planning Place]] as a warrior, martial artist, mage, or priest, depending on their stat bonuses.
