*The man o' war's English name is based on the [[Wikipedia:Portuguese man o' war|Portuguese man o' war]], a hydrozoan found in the Atlantic and Indian ocean known for its venomous nematocysts which can deliver a sting powerful enough to kill fish and cause severe pain and occasionally death to humans. Despite its superficial appearance to a jellyfish, the two are not related.
* A monster extremely similar to the man o' war appears in {{DQ7|short}}, the [[sting slime]]. The difference between the two is that the sting slime dwells on land, while the man o' war prefers to live in seas and oceans.
