The player, [[Mindini]], and [[Majellan]] first meet Malini during chapter 2, Episode 5: A Shady Guide of Part 1's story, where he attempts to hinder the party from reaching the Bronze Cup by giving them the wrong directions. This leads to the party encountering [[Robbin' 'Ood]] deep inside the cave, who challenges them to a fight over their gold and valuables. The player is able to defeat the bandit, who shows them the way out of the cave in exchange for letting him go. This is the first of Malini's many defeats at the hands of the player. Rotchester is furious with Malini after Robbin' 'Ood's defeat, reminding him that their Dark Lord would be furious if the player manages to reach the Master League. Later on, the group encounters Malini again at the Bronze Cup, where he admits that he was trying to send them to their doom. He then sends a reluctant, but brainwashed [[Golem]] to fight the player's monsters. The player is able to defeat the Golem and once again puts a stop to Malini's plan. Elsewhere, an apologetic Rotchester swears to the unseen Dark Lord that they won't fail again.
