{{spoiler|start}}{{DQ4 Chapter 4}} is set with Maya and Meena performing at [[Laissez Fayre|a town populated almost entirely by entertainers and tourists]]. They use their job as a cover and the town as a base to investigate the murder of their father, a prominent alchemist. Though they suspect his apprentice [[Balzack]] had killed him in order to steal the [[Secret of Evolution]], they have nothing to back up their claim and keep it to themselves for the time being.

After following the trail through several towns across the entire country along with their father's other apprentice [[Oojam]], they finally confront the murderer at his castle. Unfortunately, after his defeat [[Marquis de Léon]] appears and soundly trounces them in battle before throwing them into the castle dungeon. Luckily, its only other occupant points them to a secret exit and gives them the [[List of items in Dragon Quest IV#Key Items|Boarding pass]]. The jailbreak is noticed by guards however, causing Oojam to hold them off while the sisters flee directly to [[Endor]].

In {{DQ4 Chapter 5}}, Meena is attempting to continue her fortune-telling business but Maya blows all of the gold they had earned on their journey at the [[Casino]], leaving them fairly stranded in the city. Luckily, the {{Hero 4}} has been told to seek out his destined allies, and locates Meena and Maya in short order. Maya swears never to gamble again and the two sisters join the player's party for the remainder of the game.

Much further into Chapter 5, the party confronts Balzack at Castle [[Zamoksva]]. He has used an imperfect version of the Secret of Evolution to become Baalzack, but the party is still able to kill him, thus avenging the death of the sisters' father.{{spoiler|end}}

====Abilities====
As a dancer, Maya is physically frail, possessing very low Strength, and the lowest {{Resilience}} and max {{HP}} for much of the game. The tradeoff is that she has fantastic {{Agility}}, good {{Wisdom}}, and a great deal of {{MP}}. She has a very strong set of spells, including debilitating spells like [[Sap]], strong damage-dealers like [[Sizzle]] and [[Frizzle]], and oddities like [[Puff!]] where she can transform into a dragon. Her weapons are mostly [[Knife (weapon type)|knives]] and [[Wand (weapon type)|wands]], but she is also able to equip the [[Cobra claw]] and [[Gringham whip]] in remake versions. Her selection of armour is limited to clothing, robes, and hats. The only shield she is able to equip is the [[Liquid metal shield]].
