In the original [[Sony PlayStation]] version, Lightning is a hybrid skill that can be learned by advancing to rank 5 as a [[Mage]] or [[Sailor]] immediately after completing the other. It can also be learned by mastering the [[Serial quiller (vocation)|Serial quiller]] vocation. 
*Lightning was nerfed in the {{3DS}} version, with a new range of 30~50. In the {{3DS}} version, hybrid skills no longer exist and Lightning is learned normally by mastering the [[Sailor]] vocation.

It can be used by the enemies [[electroslime]]s, [[natural born quiller]]s, [[monarchaeopteryx]]es, [[beastly priest]]s, [[demon thunderer]]s, [[hellstalker]]s, and [[Orgodemir]]'s first form on Disc 1.
