Editing Breath attack

In the {{Main Series}} games, many enemies such as {{Dragon}}s and {{Demon}}s have breath weapons. These skills typically use the fire and ice elements, but beginning with the [[Dragon Quest IX|ninth game]] darkness and light exhalations have been added to the series and further elements have been added since. Regardless of which element is used, breath skills target all party members and often cost fewer MP than spells do.

Breath skills are not limited solely to {{MFamilies}}s, however; certain vocations and {{Munchie}}'s various cheeses produce duplicate effects, and [[Sylvando|some characters]] can even learn these skills naturally.

==Countering bad breath==
The  [[Backdraft]], [[Brake Wind]], & [[Reverse Cycle]]  abilities can reflect breath attacks back at their source and protect the entire party, but the effect will only last for one turn. The skills [[Breathtaking Bash]] and [[Gobstopper]] can shut an enemy's trap outright for several turns akin to the [[Fizzle]] spell. [[Insulate]] and [[Insulatle]] will halt halitosis by a large degree, and the abilities [[Brownie Boost]] and [[Mind Over Matter]] will do the same.
