Burning Breath is a breath skill in the DQSeries. When used, it attempts to Paralyze a group of enemies. ==Appearances== ===DQ3=== In the original NES version, armful is the only MFamilies that can use Burning Breath. It can also be used by grievous bodily arms and pandora's boxes in 1996 remake onwards. ===DQ3HD=== In the 2024 remake, Burning Breath is learned by Monster Wranglers at level 36 if their wisdom exceeds 87 points. Burning Breath costs 9 MP and has a 1/4th chance to paralyse each foe for 2~3 turns before their resistance is applied. ===DQ4=== Burning Breath is an enemy-only skill that can be used by bulldozers, cocoon goons, hellspawns, incineraytors, and joojoo gooroos. ===DQ5=== Burning Breath is learned by several monster companions such as the flamethrower and men o' war. It does not cost MP to use, and the affliction lasts for 1~3 turns. The skill uses the same element as Whack and is ineffective against monsters immune to instant death. {| cellspacing="0" cellpadding="2" border="1" !style="background:#77479B; color: white;"|Name !style="background:#77479B; color: white;"|Level |- |Man o' war R||5 |- |Revaulting horse R||5 |- |Drag-goof R||10 |- |Flamethrower R||15 |- |Hulagan R||15 |- |Great dragon R||20 |} Lick-o'-flame, wormbats, and Bishop Ladja use it as enemies. ===DQ6=== Paralysis has been given an element independent from instant death beginning with VI and the skill is obtained by advancing to rank 7 of the Monster Master vocation. Paralysis lasts 4~7 turns and, when used by an ally, the skill has a 50%, 20%, 10%, and 0% chance to connect depending on the enemy's resistance. It is also used by men o' war, biguanas, sinisculptures, sail serpents, and hell gladiators. ===DQ7=== Burning Breath is learned by reaching rank 4 of the Monster Masher vocation in the PSX and version, as well as rank 4 of the Bone baron and rank 2 of the Gripevine monster vocations. In has the same aspects as VI's in the original release, but now lasts 6~9 turns in the remake. It can be used by the enemies men o' war, pucker suckers, oinkubi, wharfhorses, gripevines, and gourdzillas. ===DQ8=== Burning Breath returns to being an enemy-only skill that can be used by bulldozers, dark stars, hell gladiators, the killer croaker's backs, soulspawns, hellspawns, corpse corporals, and the Emerald dragon. *In the Nintendo 3DS version of the game, Ziggy is the only recruitable monster in the game that can use Burning Breath. ===DQ9=== Burning Breath is used by various MFamiliess, but is unable to be performed by any player-controlled characters. It can be used by bagmas, freaky tikis, gadrongos, men o' war, rashaveraks, sail serpents scarlet fevers, Corvus's second form, and Orgodemir starting at Level 24. ===DQ10=== Burning Breath is an enemy-only skill that can be used by various MFamiliess, such as corpse corporals and hell gladiators. Weaker enemies have a 30% chance of inflicting Paralysis on characters, while the breath emitted by stronger MFamiliess has a 70% chance of inflicting Paralysis. ===DQ11=== Burning Breath appears once again as an enemy-only skill that can be used by various MFamiliess such as the armfuls and the auroral serpent. There is also a cutscene in the game where the auroral serpent Paralyzes the Party 11 with its Burning Breath even after being defeated. ===DQM=== Called PalsyAir in this game, this ability can be learned by various MFamiliess. It requires the MFamilies to reach at least level 16 with at least 112 HP, and 96 Intelligence. It is learned by the chamelgon, darkeye, fireweed and saccer, among others. ===DQM2=== PalsyAir now requires 173 Intelligence to learn. It is naturally learned by the multieyes. ===DQMJ=== Burning Breath can be learned from: *Bad Breath (63 points) *Mortamor (20 points) *Toxifier (26 points) *Γber Breath (45 points) ===DQMJ2=== Burning Breath can be learned from all the skills it could be previously, as well as from Wormonger for 18 points. ===DQM3D=== Stub ===DQM23D=== Stub ===DQMJ3=== Stub ===DQM3=== Burning Breath costs 4 MP and possesses a 40% chance to paralyse all enemies for 2~5 turns. It is learned through the Bad Breather, Bishop Ladja, Blowhard, Devil's Advocate, Doomsayer, Dragonlord, Fallen Angel Corvus, Fire Chief, Firebrand, Graveheart, Nuisance, Prankster, and Stinker talents. ===DQTreasures=== Burning Breath costs 3 MP and fills a large portion of the screen with bad air. It is learned by dark draglings, dark sabrecats, and hardy hands. ===DQTact=== Burning Breath is known naturally by armfuls, bulldozers, fire balls, flamethrowers, grillerpillars, men o' war, and silver platypunks at Level 1, costing 11 MP to use. It will occasionally inflict Paralysis on all enemies in a range of three squares in front of the user. ==Etymology== While the skill's name may imply that it is another type of fire breath, in actuality people who are afflicted with neuro-toxins describe a painful burning sensation in addition to other sensory anomalies. ==Related skills== *Paralysis Attack clear DQSkills fr:Souffle brΓ»lant
