The cobra claw is a recurring Claw weapon in the DQSeries. It is a mid-to-end game weapon can lethally Poison its target, with the success of the infliction varying between titles. Monsters will succumb to the Poison at the fixed rate, ignoring any resistances save for immunity. ==Localization history== The weapon's Japanese name does not allude to venomous serpents in any way, instead describing the claws as being infernally-themed with the Enix of America localization matching its original counterpart. This is conveyed in several in-game descriptions which akin the talons to those of a powerful demon. It is unknown why Square Enix of America chose it ignore the nature of the weapon's name in lieu of the cobra moniker, but it was possibly done to underline the poisoning aspect. ==Appearances== ===DQ4=== The cobra claw has an Attack bonus of +80 and a Poisoning rate of 1/6th. It can only be wielded by Alena, Maya, and the Psaro 9 and appears in the remakes only. It can be found in the bonus dungeon, the Fungeon 4. ===DQ5=== The cobra claw has an attack bonus of +90 and a much higher Poisoning rate of 1/4th, making it an ideal weapon even when alternatives with more attack power are available. It can only be wielded by Debora and several monster companions. It is found in Crocodilopolis and dropped by either a doom slugger or a gloom slugger at a rate of 1/32. ===DQ6=== The cobra claw has an attack bonus of +90, Style bonus of +29, and a poison rate of 1/6th that will activate on the dragon slash, double-edged slash, flame slash, frenzy, gust slash, hatchet man, kacrackle slash, lightning slash, mercurial thrust, metal slash, multifists (each hit), multislash, & undead undoer skills. It can be wielded by Ashlynn, Goober, Healie, Spot, Kingsley, Curie, Shelley and Mercury. They can be found sometimes after fighting aggrosculptures at a rate of 1/128 and merkings at 1/4096, and sold for 26,250 Gold. ===DQ7=== The Cobra claw has the exact same stats and bonus abilities as in VI, but may only be equipped by Ruff. It can be purchased at the Sea Dragon for 35,000 Gold. ===DQ8=== The cobra claw has an attack bonus of +75 and inflicts 1.3 times damage against MFamiliess of the Demon family. It only appears in the version of the game and can be equipped by Morrie. It can be purchased in Tryan Gully for 10,000 Gold and sold for 5,000 Gold. The Cobra claw can also be created in the Alchemy Pot and can be upgraded into the King cobra claw by combining it with a Hades' helm R. Unfortunately it has no poisonous properties in this iteration. ===DQ9=== Upgrades into the king cobra claws when combined with four terrible tattoos and four wings of bat. ===DQ10=== Stub ===DQ11=== ==Gallery==
<gallery> DQV_Demon_Claw.png|Vintage artwork circa 1992.
