'''Crushed Ice''' is a recurring skill in the {{DQSeries}}. It coats the user's staff or spear in ice and launches 3-4 strikes on random targets.

This ability is learned with 76 skill points allocated into [[List of staff skills in Dragon Quest IX|Staff skill]]. Each strike is 30% of the character's normal blows, stacking for a potential maximum of 120% damage for 5 MP.

Crushed Ice can be learned by [[Priest]]s, [[Martial Artist]]s, [[Minstrel]]s, [[Fortune Teller]]s, and [[Death Master]]s by allocating 76 points into the Staff skill. It launches four strikes on a single enemy that deal 55% damage per hit for a potential total of 220% damage, costing 5 MP to use. Each hit also has a 25% chance of reducing the target's ice resistance.
* In the ''Offline'' version of the game, it can be learned by the {{Hero 10}} and [[Mjoll]] through the ''Staves'' section of their character builder for 7 skill points.

{{Serena 11}} and [[Jade]] learn the ability through the ''Spears'' section of their character builder, unlocking it for 16 and 18 points respectively. Jade is able to learn it after her skill panel expands in the second act, while Serena will only be able to learn it in the third act of the game. Instead of random targets it now focuses on one target like in ''X'', pulverizing the foe four times at 90% strength for a total of 360% damage. The bone-chilling skill's tremendous improvement comes at a steep cost, requiring 16 MP to perform.
* After learning Crushed Ice, Serena is able to help {{Veronica 11}} perform the [[Pep]] power [[Sliceberg]] when she is pepped up, as long as her sister has already learned [[Kacrack]]. Jade is able to perform the Pep power [[Chillblaze]] when she is pepped up if the {{Hero 11}} has mastered the [[Flame Slash]] skill.
