Like the [[Death necklace]], the Devil's tail will curse the person who tries to equip it, doubling the chance for an enemy cast of Snooze or Fizzle to work. It sells for 1,125 [[Gold]] Coins, so the player should sell as soon as they can. It is dropped from [[Hawk man|Hawk men]] and [[Grimlin]]s.

The Devil's tail increases Agility by 10, but makes the wearer more susceptible to magic attacks. It can be equipped by [[Yangus]], [[Jessica]], [[Angelo]], [[Morrie]], and [[Red]]. One can be found in the treasure vault at [[Argonia]] Castle after the events at the [[Royal Hunting Grounds]], one in the [[Herb Grotto]], and another at the [[World of Darkness]]. They can also be dropped by [[Tap devil]]s, [[Caped caperer]]s, and [[Demon thunderer]]s. It can be purchased for 200 [[Gold]] Coins in the [[Dragovian Sanctuary]] and sold for 100.

The tail can be used in a variety of different [[List of alchemy recipes in Dragon Quest VIII|alchemy recipes]], typically to curse an item. It can also be combined with an urn of [[Saint's ashes]] in the [[Alchemy Pot]] to make a [[Leather whip]].
