The Dingbat is an intermediate monster vocation in Dragon Quest VII. ==Description== The Dingbat is an unusual red demon with bird-like features and a huge pair of wings on its back that is a versatile attacker. It offers an slight to moderate increase in most categories and a drop in Wisdom. The vocation also has an increased chance to land a critical hit, with the frequency being calculated as rank 1 = 1/256, 2 = 1/256, 3 = 1/64, 4 = 1/32, 5 = 1/16, 6 = 1/16, 7 = 1/16, 8 = 1/8. Additionally, reaching rank 8 will grant a character with a slight resistance to all elements (except Woosh and fire breath) and a strong resistance to all status ailments and strike skills. Mastering the vocation is required in order to become a Barbatos or a Prism peacock. ==Requirements== To become a Dingbat, a character needs to master the Jawtoise, Chimaera, and Kingfuchsia classes or have a monster heart in their inventory when going to Alltrades Abbey 7 to change their vocation. A Dingbat Heart can also be won from the Lucky Panel game in The Haven's casino. Additionally, it can be dropped from Dingbats in the Hidden Pyramid or the Alltrades Abbey 7 region in the present after the events at the Cathedral of Light. However, dingbats only have a 1 chance of dropping their heart after battle. *In the Nintendo 3DS version, it is also possible to acquire a Dingbat heart by creating a custom Traveller's Tablet with a Dingbat as the boss. ===Stat Changes=== {|width="50%" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="2" border="1" style="text-align:center" |width="25%" valign="top" style="background:#4682B4"|Statistics |width="25%" valign="top" style="background:#4682B4"|Change |- |Battles to Master |190 |- |Strength | +5% |- |Agility | +10% |- |Resilience | Null |- |Wisdom | -10% |- |Style | +10% |- |Max HP | +5% |- |Max MP | Null |- |Mastery Bonus | +20 Bonus to Agility |} ===Abilities=== {|width="00%" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="2" border="1" style="text-align:center" |width="5%" valign="top" style="background:#4682B4"|Level |width="20%" valign="top" style="background:#4682B4"|Title
(PSX) |width="10%" valign="top" style="background:#4682B4"|Learns |width="5%" valign="top" style="background:#4682B4"|Battles Needed |width="15%" valign="top" style="background:#4682B4"|Target |width="50%" valign="top" style="background:#4682B4"|Info |width="5%" valign="top" style="background:#4682B4"|MP |- |1 |Batlet
(SkySprite) |Nothing |0 | | | |- |2 |Bat Boy
(SkyImp) |Wing Clipper |18 |One Enemy |Deals extra damage to flying foes. |0 |- |3 |Bat Influence
(Familiar) |Nothing |40 | | | |- |4 |Bat Company
(SkyFiend) |Zing |65 |One Ally |Has the chance of restoring one fallen ally with half their Max HP. |8 |- |5 |Assault and Batterer
(Cacodemon) |Nothing |92 | | | |- |6 |Bat to the Bone
(SkyDemon) |Harvest Moon |130 |All Enemies |A leap followed by a fierce flurry of blows that damage all enemies. |0 |- |7 |Superbat
(Hellborn) |Thin Air |160 |All Enemies |Summons a sea of vacuum vortexes to savagely slice into the enemy. |0 |- |8 |King Ding
(Inferno) |Falcon Slash |190 |One Enemy |Attacks one enemy twice with 75% power |0 |} ==Trivia== * The PS1 accolade for rank 3, Familiar, is an animal spirit that serves a witch or sorceress. * The PS1 accolade for rank 5, Cacodemon, is an evil spirit or a demon. clear DQVIIClasses
