Drain Magic is a recurring spell in the DQSeries. It absorbs MP from the target, and is the weaker version of the multi-targeting Giga Drain Magic. ==Appearances== ===DQ3=== Drain Magic leeches 5~11 MP from a single enemy, and is learned by Mages and Sages at level 15. mimics, pandora's boxes, and voodoogooders use this spell against the Party 3. ===DQ3HD=== Drain Magic is learned by Mages and Sages at level if their wisdom exceeds 51 points. It drains 5~10 MP from a single foe. ===DQ4=== Drain Magic is learned by Borya at level 25 and by Maya Mahabala at level 16. It functions exactly as it did in the previous game in the NES version, but follows the (Lvl/4)+5 algorithm set by later games in all remakes and subsequent ports. The enemies bloody blade, mimic, pandora's box, and voodoo gooroo can use this spell against the Party 4. ===DQ5=== Absorbs 5~11 MP in all versions, and is learned by the following characters: {| cellspacing="0" cellpadding="2" border="1" !style="background:#77479B; color: white;"|Name !style="background:#77479B; color: white;"|Level |- |King cureslime R||-- |- |Slime knight R||-- |- |Prestidigitator R||15 |- |Dracky R||20 |- |Dwight||25 |- |Sancho||25 |- |Man o' war R||40 |} cannibox and mimic use it as enemies against the Party 5. ===DQ6=== Drain Magic is learned by Ashlynn at level 14, and by Goowain at level 3. Other characters can learn it by advancing to rank 6 of the Mage vocation. The algorithm changes considerably this time around, and the amount drained from an enemy is calculated as (Lvl/4)+5. The enemies disgustling, cannibox, and mimic use this spell against the Party 6. ===DQ7=== Drain Magic is learned at rank 1 of the Sage vocation, rank 4 of the Champion, and rank 1 of the Druid. The spell has been nerfed in the remake, using the formula of drained MP = 5~11 instead of VI's formula. It can be cast by the enemies Putric Stinkenheimer, pandora's box, and grimoire against the Party 7. ===DQ8=== Drain Magic is learned by Angelo once he invests 12 points into his Staff skill. The formula is (Lvl/4)+5 once again. *In the version, Red learns Drain Magic at level 40. Pandora's boxes, magic dumbbells, and crayzees can use this spell against the party. ===DQ9=== Though not available to player characters, it is used by a number of spell-casting enemies. Each enemy also has a specific amount drained, with no random aspect as seen in previous games. *Master of Nu'un: 6 MP *Shivery shrubbery: 7 MP *Bloody manguini: 8 MP *Slugly betsy: 20 MP *Tyrannosaurus Wrecks: 20 MP *Pandora's box: 25 MP ===DQ10=== Stub ===DQ11=== Veronica 11 and Rab will learn Drain Magic at levels 24 and 28 respectively. The spell's formula this time is now dependent on Magical Might instead of level, with a stat range of 111~900 and drain range of 2. What this means is that a character with less than 111 Magical Might will drain 3~7 MP per use, and a character with 900 will drain 32~36 MP. The spell costs 0 MP to cast. ===DQM=== Known as RobMagic in this game, this spell can be learned by a variety of MFamiliess. It requires the MFamilies to reach at least level 7, with at least 32 max MP, and 28 INT. It grows into TakeMagic when the MFamilies reaches level 13 with at least 58 MP and 52 Intelligence. It is naturally learned by the beanman, dracky, gohopper, oniono, sabreman and weedbug, among others. ===DQM2=== RobMagic now requires 51 MP to learn and 94 Intelligence to upgrade. It is naturally learned by the aquadon and ghostree. ===DQMCH=== Stub ===DQMJ=== Drain Magic can be learned from various skill trees. *Mage Aid (4 points) *Nightmare (4 points) *Rhapthorne (4 points) *Seal (11 points) *Γber Charmer (25 points) ===DQMJ2=== Drain Magic can no longer be learned from Seal. It can now be learned from Stormsgate Citadel for 10 points. ===DQM3D=== Stub ===DQM23D=== Stub ===DQMJ3=== Stub ===DQM3=== Drain Magic has a fixed success chance of 80% and costs no MP, with the amount drained being (Level/2) + 5~10 with the utmost limit being 250 when factoring in the target's vulnerability to being siphoned. It is learned through the Antimagician, Charmer, Dark Artist, Magic Maven, Nature Child, Paramedic, and Tongue Twister talents. ===DQH2=== Drain Magic can be cast by Lazarel and Teresa if they are wielding a heavy wand. It draws a magic circle in front of the caster that steals MP of any MFamiliess that enter it. By holding down the button, the range of the spell can be changed with the analog stick. In this game, MFamiliess do not have a set amount of MP so it can be drained indefinitely as much as desired. The amount of MP drained is 3 at basic proficiency, with the amount increasing to 6 MP at level 9 heavy wand proficiency. More MP is drained if more MFamiliess enter the magic circle. ==Gallery== <center><gallery> DQ3 Spell Drain magic.png|III Famicom art. </gallery></center> ==Related spells== *Giga Drain Magic clear DQSpells
