Elys is an infant dragon that was born under unusual circumstances in DQTreasures. ==Characteristics== Elys resembles a fiery dragling in general shape, but possesses white skin speckled with purple spots, red eyes, and several crystalline protrusions from the forearm, head, shoulders, and tail. Elys does not speak due to being a newborn, communicating via gesture and mewling instead. Elys is never referred to as being of either sex, instead being addressed by name or in passing as a baby dragon: it's theme is simply that of "newborn life" in the broadest sense. ==Appearances== ===DQTreasures=== Elys is the result of the seven dragonstones being combined into one by Long John Silverbones at the sacred altar on La Isla Dorada. At first the pirate is irritated that his fabled treasure of treasures is "Ts but the seven stones stuck together!", but after he is defeated by Erik and Mia the siblings glimpse a sudden vision of the Maneland and the the Paternoggin. The children hold their dragon daggers over head and suddenly channel an incredible influx of magical energy from all of Draconia, transforming the seven dragonstones into an egg to reveal what truly is the treasure of treasures: life itself. The egg hatches instantly to reveal Elys, who purrs happily at seeing the blue-haired brother and sister. Erik thinks Elys is cute, but Porcus and Purrsula are worried that their mission to retrieve the dragonstones may not go over so well if the stones no longer exist. The junior gods realize they have no choice but to bring Elys to their home, the Garden of the Gods, as proof of their adventure in Draconia, but in doing so they would have to bid Erik and Mia farewell. As the children would have no way of returning home without the help of Porcus and Purrsula, the junior gods take the pair back to Eggshell Island for a farewell party before departing from the world at La Isla Dorada: upon placing their dragon daggers on the plinths in the island, the children lose the ability to understand the speech of their friends. Elys watches as Purrsula and Porcus use their magic to summon a small flying boat to ferry the children back home, and then ascends into the heavens along with them as the junior gods cast off their animal disguises to reveal forms similar to the infant's own. In the post-game it is revealed that Porcus and Purrsula are still in hot water with the elder gods, and have been tasked with collecting 50 iconic-class treasures that a bumbling god had accidentally lost on Draconia in order to make amends. Furthermore, the duo have been tasked with taking care of the newly-christened Elys: the hatchling will remain at the base on Eggshell Island until the 50 iconic treasures have been collected, at which point Elys can be added to the party like any other monster. Elys has some of the best stats in the game and is able to carry more treasure than any other pint-sized monster, with a steel-trap grip to boot. ==Etymology== *Elys is a name found in the English, Greek, and hebrew languages that is derived from the mythical Greek Elysium fields, the paradise awaiting heroes in the afterlife. The Japanese name, γ¨γ³γΌγ«γ΄γ³ ("Angelgon"), is a combination of the English words angel and dragon ==Trivia== *It is strongly implied that Elys is the manifestation of Madra and Padra's unfulfilled desire to birth a child during their life time. The glow in the eye sockets of the skulls in the Maneland and Paternoggin signify their awakening, and the bands of energy shooting forth from all over Draconia represent the lovers' magic condensing into a single point. Furthermore, the dragonstones all correspond to the anatomy of a dragon, hence assembling the whole set creates a foundation to channel the spectral serpents' magic into a physical form ==Related species== *Dark dragling *Fiery dragling *Icy dragling *Shiny dragling ==Gallery== <gallery> File:Porcus and Purrsula true form screenshot.png|Elys ascending to the Garden of the Gods with Porcus and Purrsula </gallery> DQTRNav
