In the ''Dragon Quest III'' remakes, free spirit is a personality that improves resilience, wisdom and luck growth, but reduces agility growth.

At the start of the game, the Hero becomes a free spirit by receiving the final test of character in the theater. The hero must leave the theater without resolving the situation.

Other party members have a chance to be a free spirit when talent scouted at [[Patty's Party Planning Place]], depending on their stat bonuses.
