Giant tortoise shell is an ingredient for crafting weapons or in Alchemy to increase {{Defence}}. It can be dropped by various monsters, including [[King crab]]s, [[Handsome crab]]s, [[Masqueraider]]s, [[Terrorceratops]]es, [[Tyrannoceratops]], [[Trikaceratops]]es, and [[Wyrtoise]]s.

Giant tortoise shell can be dropped by [[Walking corpse]]s and [[Overkilling machine]]s or received from [[Medal King|King Flaminio]] in exchange for 5 [[Mini medal]]s on the Stonecloud. It can be sold for 80 gold each or is used to create [[Life ring]]s and the classic recipes for the [[Banishing bell]] and [[Beckoning bell]] in the [[Alchemy Pot]]. Three giant tortoise shells are required to complete Quest #58: My Cup Runneth Under and two giant tortoise shells, along with two [[spellbound bough]]s, are required to complete Quest #79: Maps to the Max 4.
