'''Gigaslash''' is a recurring ability in the {{DQSeries}}. It slices through a group of enemies with a blade made of ferocious lightning, dealing incredible damage in every appearance.

Similar lightning-imbued sword techniques first appeared in the manga {{DQTAoD}}, before making their game debut in {{VI}}; the name "Gigaslash" can thus be considered a genericised form of [[Dai]]'s ultimate move [[Giga Strash]] (removing its connection to the character of [[Avan]] and [[Avan Strash|his Strash technique]]).

Gigaslash was retroactively added to the 2024 remake, learned by the {{Hero 3}} at level 45. It inflicts 225~275 Strike damage to all enemies, instead of Lightning despite the animation effect, and costs 38 {{MP}}.
*The May 23rd, 2025 update patch has buffed Gigaslash to deal 350~410 damage

A variant of Gigaslash appears in the remakes of {{V}}, Starker's Slash (プチスラッシュ) is learned by [[Starkers]] once he reaches level 65 and deals 150~330 Lighting damage.

Gigaslash is learned by reaching rank 6 of the [[Hero (vocation)|Hero profession]]. It deals 350~410 Lighting damage to one group for 20 {{MP}}.

Gigaslash has the same properties as in {{VI}} and is learned by reaching rank 7 as a {{Hero V}}, rank 6 as a [[Champion]], and rank 8 as a [[Ersatz Estark (vocation)|Ersatz Estark]]. In the {{3DS}} remake, Gigaslash is now a vocation-exclusive ability and a character can only memorize it by mastering the {{MFamilies}} vocation.

{{Eight}} can learn Gigaslash as a sword-only technique after fully investing 100 skill points into either the "Sword" or "Courage" skills. If both skill are at maximum, he obtains [[Gigagash]] instead. The electrified slice targets one enemy group for 20 {{MP}}, and damage is calculated as (lvl+180 +/- [20+lvl]) for a cap of 207~239.

[[Angelo]] cannot learn this skill; he obtains [[Lightning Storm]] after mastering his sword skilltree instead.

In ''IX'', the Gigaslash ability is obtained by allocating 88 skill points to Sword skilltree, and can only be used by a character who currently has a sword-class weapon equipped. Its damage output has a base of 140~180 and a maximum of 340~380, reached when the sum of the character's {{Magical Might}} and {{Strength}} reach 300.

The {{Luminary}} will learn gigaslash for 25 points in his ''Swordmastery'' skill tree. It costs 16 {{MP}} to use, targets '''all''' enemies, and deals up to 210~250 Lightning damage.

This ability requires the {{MFamilies}} to reach level 33 with 231 {{HP}}, 164 {{MP}}, 198 {{Attack}}, 198 {{Agility}} and 198 {{Intelligence}}. It is naturally learned by the [[Estark|Esterk]], [[Mandrake major|LizardMan]] and [[Knight aberrant|MadKnight]]. It can also be learned by monsters with [[Flame Slash|FireSlash]], [[Lightning Slash|BoltSlash]], [[Gust Slash|VacuSlash]], and [[Kacrackle Slash|IceSlash]].

A prototype of Gigaslash appears in this series in the form of [[Zapple]] Strash, a maneuver where [[Dai]] enhances the power of his finishing move [[Avan Strash]] by first channeling the power of a [[Zapple]] spell into his sword.

A second prototype appears during [[Baran]]'s battle with [[Dai]]: [[Baran]] attempts to cast a [[Kazap]] spell into his sword to perform his finishing move [[Gigabreak]], but is so exhausted that he's forced to use the weaker [[Zapple]] spell instead, resulting in an unnamed attack functionally identical to Gigaslash. [[Dai]] himself later uses this attack instinctively in order to fend off [[Hadlar]] (where it is again identified only as an imperfect [[Gigagash|Gigabreak]]).

*Despite Gigaslash's name being derived from [[Giga Strash]] (a combination of [[Avan Strash]] and [[Gigabreak|Gigabreak/Gigagash]]), it is generally portrayed as less powerful than Gigagash, which would make its videogame debut [[DQ8|two games later]].
