==Characteristics==
Great trolls are purple-skinned [[Demon family|trolls]] that are among the strongest monsters in a Demon Lord's armies. They wear roughspun tunics over a single shoulder and carry mighty spiked clubs in their right hands. Just like other trolls, they are capable of landing [[Critical Hit|desperate attacks]], but are also just as likely to waste their turns licking their clubs or simply falling over before they can land a hit. Its position as the strongest of the trolls was eventually usurped by the [[terror troll]], though it also finds itself in battle with the [[Stout troll|Stout trolls]] over who is the strongest among troll society. They have light blue lips and tongues to set them apart from their fellow purple-skinned cousins. Their monster description in ''Dragon Quest X'' states that great trolls are descendants of a royal family that existed in ancient times.
