Greatswords are a recurring type of weapon in the series, introduced in DQ10. Although swords have appeared since the very beginning, greatswords are differentiated from them by requiring the usage of both the wielder's hands, which prevents the use of a shield in the offhand. In order to compensate for the lack of defence provided by a shield, greatswords are typically more powerful than their one-handed cousins and even allow the wielder to parry enemy attacks. Due to their size and weight, greatswords are typically only usable by the most physically powerful characters, such as Gladiators. ==Appearances== ===DQ10=== Greatswords can be equipped by Warriors, Gladiators, Monster Masters, Demon Swordsmen, and Guardians. * In the Offline version of the game, greatswords can be equipped by Hussar. ===DQ11=== The Hero 11 and Hendrik can both use greatswords. They are two-handed weapons, requiring the wielder to forgo a shield. However, they have a "Parry" property, which causes them to sometimes block an enemy attack like a shield. Greatswords are also the strongest weapon class in terms of raw physical damage. *Cobblestone greatsword *Copper chopper *Broad sword *Cast-iron claymore *Broader sword *Black blade *Carbon steel claymore *Banishing blade *Hendrik's greatsword *Razer-wing *Platinum powersword *Nightcleaver *Demonsbane *Wyrmfang *Brimstone blade *Lord's sword *Metal gooreatsword *Liquid metal gooreatsword *Skysteed sword *Legate's blade *Berserker's blade *Metal king gooreatsword *Brilliant blade *Sword of Shadows ===DQH=== Greatswords are wielded exclusively by Psaro. * Bronze greatsword * Broad sword * Gooreat sword * Sizeable scissors * Nightcleaver * Conqueror's sword * Wyrmfang * Lord's sword * Skysteed sword * Metal king greatsword ===DQH2=== Cesar has taken over duties as the main wielder of greatswords, with Psaro only being playable in co-op bonus dungeons. *Warsword *Broad sword *Bloodletter *Nightcleaver *Blue blood’s blade *Wyrmfang *Lord's sword *Legate's blade *Metal king greatsword *Uber blue blood blade ===DQWalk=== Greatswords can be equipped by Demon Swordsmen, Guardians, Dragons, and Devils. In a departure from other games in the series, it is actually possible to wield a greatsword in one hand if the player chooses, leaving their offhand free to equip a shield. However, if the player chooses to use both hands to wield a greatsword, the weapon's Attack power will be multiplied by 1.5. ==In Other Languages== clear DQWeapons
