The '''Grim gryphon''' is a recurring monster in the {{DQSeries}}, first appearing in ''[[Dragon Quest XI]]''. They are the latest additions to the [[Gryphon|gryphon clan]], serving as the weakest pallet-swap within the group. Like their brethren, they are bipedal gryphons with three eyes and considerable spell-casting capability.

==Characteristics==
Grim gryphons are monstrous [[Wikipedia:Griffin|gryphon]]s, having the upper bodies of sky blue [[Bird family|eagles]] with large wingspans and the powerful lower bodies of lions with olive drab green fur. Their most distinctive characteristics are the third eye on their foreheads and the long tongues that poke out of their beaks. They are capable of attacking twice in quick succession with their sharp talons and have some skill with magic. Despite their intimidating appearance, the grim gryphons are nothing more than lackeys in the monster world.
