'''Hackrobat''' is a boss faced in the [[Grotta del Sigillo]] on the island of [[L'Arca]] in {{DQ7}}.

==Characteristics==
Hackrobat's appearance is that a blue-skinned overweight male juggler with a tiny pair of wings on his back and a tall pair of curved purple horns on top of his head. He has a small tuft of blond hair on top of his head, red eyes, long pointy ears with a small hoop earring on each ear, mustachios which droop over his perpetually grinning mouth, and spiked blond hair running down his back. The rotund demon wears a purple singlet with a yellow claw design on the front, armlets on his wrists, and yellow shoes with white spats. He is also covered with hair on his chest and his arms. The balls he is juggling are eyeballs, which he can enlarge and utilize in his attacks.

==History==
Long before the {{Party 7}} arrives, [[L'Arca]] was protected by the white wolves. When the Hackrobat threatened the town, the white wolves fought back and sealed him in a coffin within the [[Grotta del Sigillo]], the mountain of [[Numen|The Almighty]]. However, it came with a heavy price as many of the wolves were slain. For a time, there was peace.

However, sometime before the arrival of the {{Party 7}}, the coffin was opened from the outside and Hackrobat returned. He started to kill the wolves that imprisoned him long ago. One of the casualties was a mother wolf who gave birth to a wolf cub that was taken in by a local farmer. To spite the wolves, he cast a spell on [[L'Arca]] which changed all [[human]]s into animals and vice versa, returning to the cave afterwards.

===Past===

The {{Party 7}} arrives at the Grotta with the Woodcutter in tow and climbs to the very top and enters the chamber where the monster was sealed long ago, finding it to be a place filled with evil like no other. In the chamber, the party encounters a wounded wolf and the [[Ruff|young boy]] who was chained up in [[L'Arca]], along with an enormous stone coffin, which they open. The boy lets out a warning to the {{Party 7}} and they are confronted by Hackrobat, who mocks the party for being in league with the wolves. Now that he has been unsealed, he plans to wipe out every single white wolf remaining as revenge for what happened to him.[[Image:DQVII Hackrobat Curse.jpg|left|thumb|250px|Hackrobat using the last of his strength to curse the wolf boy.]]His plan was thwarted by the she-wolf found in the chamber, who is protecting the last remaining member of the wolves, who turns out to be the boy himself. The boy flies into a rage to attack Hackrobat and the {{Party 7}} joins in to defeat the monster. After being defeated, the Hackrobat threatens to turn them all into animals so they won't be able to fight back anymore. Once again, the boy leaps up and bites the monster and paralyzes him. Hackrobat then realizes that the last white wolf he was looking for was looking at him right in the face. With his last remaining strength, the monster unleashes a spell on the boy, cursing him to remain in human form forever. The party reseals the dumpy demon in the coffin again, undoing the spell in [[L'Arca]].

===Present===
The {{Party 7}} goes to the [[Grotta del Sigillo]] and return to the chamber where the monster was previously sealed. They hear a voice telling them to run away or face the consequences. Instead, they opened up the coffin once more. Hackrobat is revealed to be in a [[human]] form now. He figures that it is punishment for what he did before. He recognizes the party and wants to make up what he did to the young boy [[Ruff]] in the past. He tries using magic to return [[Ruff]] to his wolf form but he fails. Instead, he makes him more [[human]] and gives [[Ruff]] the power to speak the [[human]] language. []Ruff]] is ecstatic that he is finally able to communicate with the {{Party 7}}. Hackrobat also gives the {{Party 7}} a {{Blue Fragment}}. The {{Party 7}} leaves the Grotta to continue on their adventure.

==Strategy==
The chamber in which the player fights Hackrobat has a magic seal which means that the {{Party 7}} cannot cast spells. Therefore, it is advisable to have the {{Party 7}} stocked with [[Medicinal herb]]s to heal. Hackrobat can attack twice in one turn. He can also blind the {{Party 7}} with [[Dazzleflash]], making their attacks miss more often. Finally, he can use [[Wind Sickle]]s which can knock off 30-40 {{HP}}. In the [[Nintendo 3DS]] version, the chamber no longer seals away the {{Party 7}}'s magic, making the battle easier. {{Maribel}} should start the battle off by casting [[Sap]] on him and the {{Hero 7}} should cast [[Buff]] on the {{Party 7}}, particularly {{Maribel}}. It is also possible to put him to {{Sleep}} with {{Maribel}}'s [[Snooze]] spell since he has low resistance to it.

[[The Woodcutter]] also fights with the {{Party 7}} but his physical attack is lacking. He will, however, use herbs to heal the {{Party 7}}. Do not count on him if your {{Party 7}} members are seriously hurt, though. The {{Hero 7}} should use physical attacks all the time, stopping only to heal should it become necessary. [[Kiefer]] should use [[Flame Slash]] all the time. {{Maribel}} should be given herbs and heal the party when their {{HP}} reaches 25 or so. In the {{PSX}} version, if she has the [[Retaliate]] skill, she can cast [[Dazzleflash]] and WindBeast on Hackrobat if she is hit with it. As long as the player keeps attacking and keeps their {{HP}} up, the fat fiend will fall.
