The Haywire helm grants the wearer +42 Defence, and +8 Style, but they become cursed, and are confused in battle. As with any cursed equipment, it can only be removed with Benediction from a priest at a [[Church|church]].
<br>It is found in a chest on the basement floor of the [[Cathedral of Light|Cathedral of Light]], and can be equipped by [[Kiefer]], [[Ruff]], and [[Aishe]]. Sells for 900 gold.

The haywire helm returns in Dragon Quest VII Reimagined. It booses attack by 52 points and defence by 42 points. However, equipping it causes its wearer to be dazzled all the time. It can be equipped by the [[Hero (Dragon Quest VII)|Hero]], [[Ruff]], and [[Aishe]]. It can be dropped by [[Ersatz Estark]].
