'''Ifrit''' is a recurring fire-elemental summon in the ''[[Final Fantasy]]'' series. He appears in {{DQTact}} as part of a collaboration event with the mobile strategy RPG ''[[Wikipedia:War of the Visions: Final Fantasy Brave Exvius|War of the Visions: Final Fantasy Brave Exvius]]''.

==Characteristics==
Ifrit regularly takes on the appearance of a red-skinned demon with firey hair wearing a black loincloth. He has control over the element of fire and his signature attack is [[Hellfire (Final Fantasy)|Hellfire]], which deals fire damage to all enemies and is often performed with a flaming tackle. Although he rarely is given a backstory in the games, he is often known by his title of The Infernal, tends to be one of the more aggressive summons in the series (if not '''''the''''' most aggressive), and occasionally has a rivalry with [[Shiva]], the ice-elemental summon. His appearance in {{Tact}} is based on his ''War of the Visions'' incarnation, where he looks more beastlike and wears a black cloth around his waist. He is adorned with gold armbands and bracelets.

==Etymology==
[[Wikipedia:Ifrit|Ifrit]] (also spelled as Efreet or Afreet)is the name given to a class of Jinn (Demons also known as Djinn, Djinni, and Genie) that embody fire. Though they could live for thousands of years, they were not immortal, and if cut, they would "bleed" the fire running through their veins until it consumed their bodies.

Ifrit has also been called Jinn. The jinn, also spelled djinn, or genies, are spirits mentioned in the Qurʾān and Islamic theology who inhabit an unseen world in dimensions beyond the visible universe of humans. Together, the jinn, humans and angels make up the three sentient creations of God. The Hell Fire attack draws reference to the Jinn Shaitan (Satan)'s role in Islamic thought, as the Holy Qu-ran describes him as refusing to prostrate himself before mankind due to believing that he -as a creature of fire- was superior to humanity.
