The serves as the main island in DQB2. It is an empty island that was once bustling with life and creation, with only the faintest traces of civilization remaining. ==Appearances== ===DQB2=== Following the events of the tutorial section, the Builder, stowed away on a ship belonging to the Children of Hargon, escapes the cult when the ship sinks. They wash up on the shore of the Isle of Awakening. Upon regaining consciousness, the Builder meets a mysterious boy called Malroth and then a fellow abductee named Lulu, the only other survivor of the sunken ship. After the Builder completes some of Lulu's demands (creating a room and sufficient bedding) and cooks her a seared scallywinkle, the trio go to sleep for the night. The next morning, they find that Lulu's meal is gone, and a chain of events leads them to The Mountaintop in the center of the island. There, they meet the peculiar Hairy Hermit, a ghastly hammerhood who oversees the island and is also the culprit who stole Lulu's meal. After getting the Builder to fix some ruins, he grants them a giant mallet, introduces the noticeboard mechanic, and decides to gift the island to the Builder - much to the dismay of both Malroth and Lulu. He then promptly tells the Builder that they must seek ways to restore the island to its former glory. His first mission for the Builder is to bring nature (and residents) back to the island, and he recommends going to the land of Furrowfield. After meeting with Captain Brownbeard, a sailor who had accidentally stumbled upon the Isle of Awakening, the captain permits travel on his ship and the three then depart for the new island. When the Builder, Malroth and Captain Brownbeard arrive back at the Isle of Awakening with people and more resources, Lulu greets them and leads everyone (save for the captain, who always stays by his ship) to The Mountaintop again to see the Hairy Hermit. He tells them all to direct the new people to the Green Gardens (a small region in the Isle), the fastest way being via gliding on windbraker. Lulu, who has already explored the entirety of the island, volunteers to lead the new residents over. Upon arrival, the Builder interacts with a mysterious green tablet, which glows and offers new mini-missions called Tablet Targets. At this point in time, the voice present in Malroth head provokes something deep within him, and he explodes in power. After completing these mini-missions (and various quests), the Hairy Hermit tells the Builder and Malroth that their next quest is to obtain metals and ore for the island, and recommends going to the land of Khrumbul-Dun. A similar sequence of events follows after the events of this island except the residents are instead directed to the red-tablet Scarlet Sands. There, they begin construction of a giant pyramid, that is overseen by a seemingly friendly shaman called Shane sent from the Children of Hargon along with two prestidigitators. He states that he was "cool" with the construction and the people are happy that not all of the cultists seem to be bad. After a while, Shane and the two prestidigitators leave.startBut it soon turns out that it was all a sham, and that Shane was indeed sent with bad intentions. The Children of Hargon return to the island on a ship to the north of the Scarlet Sands, and launch an attack on the residents, the weather turning stormier as the fight drags on. The attack eventually becomes too strong to fend off and the Builder is advised to escape with Malroth to a different island, and they run to The Dock to hopefully catch a ride on Brownbeard's boat. However, when they begin sailing to an island, the storm obscures the captain's view, and they end up crashing straight into another ship. Malroth and the Builder walk onto its deck to find that it is actually one of the Children of Hargon's as they are ambushed by monsters, some of them blocking the direct pathway to Brownbeard (who is still on his boat). Malroth itches to fight the monsters but the Builder's refusal makes him realise that it would compromise Brownbeard's life, and they would have no escape. The three people are then sailed to Skelkatraz, a prison island. They escape quite quickly and return to the Isle of Awakening. Lulu greets them again, teary-eyed, and tells them that she missed the two.end Lulu then decides that she wants to have a tea party with Malroth and the Builder, as she is jealous that she did not get a celebration-type event like the Furrowfieldans and the Khrumbul-Dunnians had with the two of them. She makes the Builder make a small deck for their party, and when the sun sets, she brings out her pre-made cake. Malroth eats it happily but the Builder gags at the foul ingredients she had used in its creation. Afterwards, the Builder returns to see that the large pyramid is nearly complete. They choose a design for its apex by selecting between Digby or Dougie's designs, and then the pyramid is finished. The Hairy Hermit is pleased and then sets the Builder and Malroth on their final mission - as he is worried that the Builder may encounter other, extremely intense battles due to creation being strictly against the Children of Hargon's policies, he sets them out to the island of Moonbrooke in hopes of coming back with weaponry and defense mechanisms. Unfortunately, when the two return, their friendship is disjointed due to certain events on the island, and Malroth disappears. In the meantime, the new residents move to the blue-tablet Cerulean Steppes and build their attempt at a castle. After it is built, monsters arrive for another ambush, and the Builder lays down their newly-made traps for the monsters to secure their win. Eventually, Lulu asks the Builder where Malroth is, and goes to find him herself. She attempts to console him but the voices in his head become too strong and he pushes her away.startWhen all of the required mini-missions for the Cerulean Steppes are finished, the Hairy Hermit lets the Builder create a flag for their island, and everyone gathers around to celebrate when it completed. In a turn of events, Hargon suddenly arrives, mocks the flag, reveals the world is a lie and destroys the Hairy Hermit before opening a rift in the middle of The Mountaintop that leads to Malhalla. During the events of Malhalla, Malroth and the Builder reunite, and afterwards they return to the Isle of Awakening. Malroth uses his new god-like powers in conjunction with the will of the Builder and turn the illusory world real, saving everybody in it.end ====Notable Locations==== =====Zoom Spots===== In the beginning of the game, before you reach Malroth for the first time, you are able to zoom to the spot that the Builder wakes up in. stub =====Infrastructure and Other Places===== ===== Treasures===== stub {| class="wikitable |+ |- ! More can be read about these rewards here. =====Tablet Targets===== Tablet Targets are mini-missions that give mini-medals after completion, and also rewards at regular intervals. The tablets at the Green Gardens, the Scarlet Sands and the Cerulean Steppes provide 45 targets in total. More can be read about these missions here. Each of the three tablets mark an inhabitable region of the island, which are default dwelling places for the residents. =====Explorer's Shores===== The Explorer's shores are mystical islands that unlock after completing the events in Furrowfield. The Builder is able to visit these islands through Brownbeard's ship, and can unlock them with gratitude points on the Isle of Awakening. More information about this mechanic can be read here. =====Residents' Register===== The Residents' register lets the Builder assign the island's residents to different parts of the island, their home island (post-game) or Buildertopias. If the resident is a recruit from an Explorer's shore island, the Builder can send them away, effectively deleting them. The register can only be used on the Isle of Awakening or any of the Buildertopias. The mechanic is first introduced after the events of Khrumbul-Dun, during completion of the Scarlet Sands Tablet Targets. More information can be read about this mechanic here. ==Other Languages== ====Island==== In English, the island is called the "Isle of Awakening", as it is the isle (an island or penninsula, especially a small one) that the Builder awakes on after the events of the tutorial. Note that in all Latin-based languages, the word meaning "Isle" (the first word) can also mean "Island". ====Title==== In English, the island's title is "The Land of Infinite Opportunity". Note that all Latin-based languages have a variation of the English title and the Korean and Chinese localizations both have slight variations of the Japanese title. ==Gallery== <gallery>
Isle of Awakening icon 1.png|The initial icon for the Isle of Awakening.
